just wondering does any one know of all the game modes of play will it be similar to GT3?
cause i thought it would be sweet if they incorporated a dragracingg mode!

From what ive heard thats theres the regular.. arcade mode and Simulation (GT Universe I think it will be called) other that that most likely Online aswell, Raceing wise we know they'll have the usual series races and rally racing, KY did mention a "Drifting" type mode, thats all I know, I hope there is a drag racing mode and I do belive he mentioned it but either way I hope its in...

PS... Its already been 1yr since ive signed up with GTP :D

well a drifting mode would be pretty cool also would really like a drag racing mode1

no need for a drifting mode, GT is the kind of game where you can drift with out needing a specific physic alterd game, if you want a mode specific for easy drifting for point scoring and what not play nfs underground. drag mode would be linear, if you have ever played sega GT the drag racing mode is very quick to get boring, i cant see how PD plan on making this any different, maybe more drag courses:odd: ? im guessing there will be aracde/sim again as standerd, inside of those you may have drag racing option (just like how you choose to rally race in gt3) but i feel theres no need for a drift mode.

uh.. maybe because NFS:U sucks?

I want to drift with realistic physics in realistic cars, not some overhyped bad arcade game with a drift mode chucked in to get more sales.

there IS a need for a drift mode, because I ( and im sure a bunch of others ) would love to have a dedicated drift track similar to that of motorsport land and taking into consideration how big the drift culture in JP is now - it would be silly for them to ignore this.

im not talking tracks, im just saying theres no need for a specific drift mode, GT2 didnt have drift mode but had motor sports land and yes, great drifting. I think there should defently be tracks like this, but there should not be races in sim mode or even arcade mode where you race each other by drifting, people are saying 'drift mode' that would mean something like rally where you race. I don't think there should be a drifting mode, but tracks such as motor sports land are a must. Hope i got through to you what im trying to say :odd:

The whole idea of a drift race isn't to alter the games physics, as you said they're spot on, it would just be adding another race event probably based on the D1 which is growing fast in popularity. In GT races irl you don't see drivers drifting round corners, you only see that in drift competitions, and for players that don't want to or dislike drifing in races because it skewers the realism can have a go drifting in a race where it won't be unrealistic.

I say just throw the "Drift racing" under Arcade mode, but most likely PD will put Drifting competetions, under the simulation mode just like Rally has there own little section, if Drifting is a way of racing in JP I dont see any reason why they wouldnt add it seeing how there in JP and they'll like to add all types of racing in the GT series.. If I had to race it to get 100% in GT4 then I guess i'll have to race it, if I didnt then i wouldnt miss it but to me if people want it they'll add it, and of course if KY wants to add it then he will seeing how its really his game, There could be alote of people who hate rally racing but its in simulation as its own little section so give considerate to people who might like a small section just for drifting competetions, just because its there doesnt mean you have to race it, just pretend it isnt there and enjoy GT4 either way...

Yeah I hope they have a separate Drift mode - But not with physics that seem like someone look a piss all over the track...Woohoo - Slip n' Slide! Too bad EA went with the cheesy prepackaged riceball approach that attracts everyone in the world (8 and under...), the graphics in that game had some potential to be turned into a good racing game, cant say the same for the crappy arcade physics...

If there is a drift mode in GT4 it will use the same phsics as the rest of the game.

true, and since alot of people drifted in GT3 maybe KY just decided to just add a few races for it and actually gain something out of it, just for those of you who do drift now you'll have a place and tracks to do it on and if you could drift online like competetions and stuff that'll be a great place to show off your skills...

Well considering the physics for GT4 will be much more realistic, drifting would just be achieved naturally by the player. I would however like a series of races in simulation mode dedicated to drifting where car restrictions apply, cause not every car in most GT games are able to drift.

As for a drag mode well, only if it was done properly none of the those typical drag cars.

i dont think you "race" in drifiting, bc i dont see people drifting to be in LEAD position, that would be just silly, its all about the accumulation of points and your style, then agian i could be wrong so correct me if i am, then agian i dont know

drifting is all about style, skill and execution there is no racing in drifting.

it would be cool if the AI could drift with you as well.. like a 6 car drift would be m4d 133t.;)

I wonder how the "DRIFT MODE :odd: " will be structured. When I first heard this I thought maybe there will be a drift bar that you have to fill on completion of the event(the bar fills when the tyres are slipping) Or maybe each lap.Hey,I'm just brainstorming.

in D1 cars go round in pairs and do drifts side by side and stuff like that.

I think the formula for the drift mode should be points awarded. It can be done this way,

(drift distance )* (greatest angle achieved in drift, based on opposite lock)
(drift distance ) * (1/x)*(speed) *(greatest angle achieved)

I think this formula would work well, you have to stradegize your drifts, if you want more distance, you easy off on the opposite lock, but if you want more angle, you sacrafice distance but gain lots more opposite lock.

Any other ideas?

Have 2 cars in it each time like the D1, so you have everything you just said but also points for how close to the other car you are during a drift, the closer you are, the more points you'll get.

Yeah thats the idea, hit the other car or spin out and you should lose points.
