GT4's Garage mode

I wonder if it'll be improved at all, like the overall look of it, I hope it's like PGR2's, where you could move around in First Person, and you'd see all your cars that you own parked in the garage, to pick one you moved the camera towards it and press a button, and you'd have a couple choices what to do, if you wanted you could take the car for a spin on the test track. If GT4 had something like this there'd be more of a point to filling up your garage with cars
 
I absolutely loved that feature of the game. It makes you appreciate the cars a lot more when you can 'walk' around them like that, seeing detail you wouldn't perhaps otherwise see, and test drive them.

If that isn't in GT4 i'll be a little disappointed but it definately won't ruin the game for me. :)
 
Well, I think with this photo-feature that's supposedly coming on the game, you would be able to look around your car. But walking in a garage would be fun too. It might get a little overwhelming walking around 150 cars trying to find the one that you need. But if they made that feature available to turn off and on would make it practical.
 
I can't see PD copying an idea from Bizarre, even if it is a good one.
 
i hope they make the garage large enough to fit most of the cars, its so hard to let them go, plus some sort of organization, but most used or historical or personal organization, that would be nice
 
I didn't know PGR2 had anything like that, that's quite a cool feature. It would be awkward with a 200 car garage or so. If they did include it, the text version would certainly return as a fall back, and you could probably group cars by type, manufacturer, favourites, to aid you moving around.
 
I love this idea. :O Reality check though. Would it or would it not be too big for the game? All of the extra graphics.
 
Maybe it could be like the Garage feature in Sega Gt. You could see all your trophies, pics you have taken and when you sell a car, it sits out the front of your "house". But then again, that brings a whole new element to the game.

Well, that's another question. On one hand, you could load a small, dark texture file into Photo Mode, but that'd only work for one car, so the odds of seeing all however many hundred you own rendered before you are pretty low.
 
Mixing the features from GT2 and GT3 would be a great idea. Arranging the cars in order of specific design, such as FWD, turbo, etc. was a very handy feature and I hope it returns.


Including a parts bin for storing car parts for parts won, or for individual cars. Storing bought parts that can be taken to a race series would be awesome. That's if parts failure is an isssue in GT4.


The ability to work on your car while still in the garage. This is especially true if HP limited races return in GT4. It was a pain to deal with in GT2 when your car happened to be set up with too much HP. Entering a different race, or goin to the run setting track, was such a stupid pain.

If the before was true, then let us see the setup of the vehicle. not just the HP. Everything should be made available to us for checking and tweaking. Changing oil, camber, changing turbos, etc.

Since we will have user adjustable and selectable racing uniforms, helmets, gloves, etc. how about a closet for different uniforms for differnet cars, or teams, if racing teams are included in GT4.

No, I don't like that idea. But, what could be cool if you could get rid of the "Status" feature of the past GT titles, and exchange it for a "Racing History" feature. Where you could see best lap times, trophies won, prize money winnings, car used and it's settings, etc, from races entered. Then, it could give your average win ratio, races won, license awards/certificates, etc.
 
Solid Lifters, they're going to have customizable driving suits and stuff? I haven't heard that. But then again I havn't visited this area for a while.
 
Well in PGR2 there were about a 100 cars alltogether now even with the power of the Xbox you couldn't see all 100 at once. Instead you had a showroom that had different rooms like by Maker or by type etc. Now you could walk around and maybe enter the Ford room where about 7 cars were parked like the GT40, Mustang etc. When it came to doing this in garage mode you had catergories which held about 10 or so cars so if they did it that way where you could select 10 cars and have them appear in a garage that you can walk around in. Even if this wasn't added into the game I wouldn't be that disapointed but it would be good.

Yes, this known a long time ago. You probably weren't here then. Click on the Best GT4 Web Site in my signature, and check the dates. Page two link is on the bottom right. You'll find of a pic of the different racing suit colors there. Check for around August/September 2003.

Back on topic, another thing you could do is organize your own garage into like 10 smaller ones, picking the cars you want to go in each one.
 
I like the team closets idea, so you can roll out a team uniform and setup along with your car. Being able to actually tune your car from the garage can't be overlooked again surely...
