As listed here, the GT Academy Edition should provide me with:
  • Complete Pack
This DLC contains the Racing Car Pack (the 15 cars), Racing Gear Pack, Paint Pack and Course Pack (Spa and Kart) for Gran Turismo 5.
  • Car Packs (on disc, apparently)
R35 GT-R 2012 Black Edition
VW Scirocco
Lamborghini Aventador etc.

I can access every on-disc content without the internets, but somehow I'm barred access to the DLC despite having downloaded it while I could. And therefore, no Spa, no topless MX-5, etc. Shouldn't it be accessible once it is downloaded and proved valid once?

Yes and I have even played with a few of the DLC cars.

Ok, now I do not understand ... you CAN play with DLC Cars (Aventador, R35 GT-R BE, X2011, Challenger TC, just to name a few)

But you CAN NOT use Spa and some of the DLC cars (eg the Roadster TC...)

Or do I miss something? :)

These are part of the DLC Racing Cars Pack:

  • Red Bull X2011 Prototype '11
  • Dodge Challenger SRT8 Touring Car
  • Honda CR-Z Touring Car
  • Mazda Roadster Touring Car
  • Mazda RX-7 Touring Car
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Touring Car
  • Nissan GT-R R35 Touring Car
  • Nissan SKYLINE GT-R R33 Touring Car
  • Nissan SKYLINE GT-R R32 Touring Car
  • Nissan SKYLINE GT-R R34 Touring Car
  • Subaru IMPREZA Touring Car
  • Toyota PRIUS Touring Car
  • Gran Turismo RACING KART Jr.
  • Gran Turismo RACING KART 100
  • Gran Turismo RACING KART 125

And I can't play with them offline. Same goes for Spa and Kart tracks.

I can, however, play with
  • Aston Martin V12 Vantage '10
  • Jaguar XJR-9 LM Race Car '88
  • Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 '11
  • MINI MINI COOPER S Countryman '11
  • Nissan Leaf G '11
  • Volkswagen Volkswagen 1200 '66
  • Mini MINI COOPER S '11
  • Nissan GT-R Black edition '12
  • Volkswagen Golf VI R '10
  • Volkswagen Scirocco R '10.

And I don't understand why. And more importantly, I'd like to find a solution to be able to play offline with everything I have. Thanks for trying to help, by the way.

Hmm... This seems more complex than I first thought...

Once downloaded and installed from the installation menu in the game's main menu (before GT Life), you should be able to use them freely. You will need to install them on every account you're trying to use them on though.

For reference, all of the DLC is on the disc. The bit you download is simply an unlock code.

I did already use Spa and Touring Cars (on my only account), it would be odd if that alone didn't prompt the installation beforehand but I don't remember the steps I followed. If that's an option, then I must have skipped the offline installation. I can't check since the console won't connect to my open wifi connection; I can't access the DLC menu anymore.

Just boot GT5 up and at the first screen go all the way over to the circular red icon with the white arrow in it on the right. That'll tell you what DLC is installed - and it'll allow you to install any that isn't but which has been downloaded.

Thanks Famine but there's a problem with that: I can't access the DLC menu peroid. It says something along the lines of "Connection failure". I tried with internet connection deactivated because I thought trying and missing could trigger the connection failure screen, but it changed nothing.

Oh... now I remember that I had a similar problem one day after I downloaded the DLC, it was enough to re-install it ingame... try that... if not, I am sorry, but then I can't help you :guilty:

EDIT: Ok, this seems to be a bigger problem... have you tried re-downloading the pack?

I can't connect anymore, I'm only borrowing a public wifi for the computer, I don't have the internets anymore for the console. :) You two seem to agree that I only need to reinstall the packs, so I'll have to find a way someday. Thanks.

You need an internet connection to install in-game. It doesn't really install anything, all it does is verify the keys (the files you downloaded from PS Store). It needs an internet connection for that.

This day in age an internet connection is a must for gaming, could it be offline or on. In the beginning when GT5 first came out, we couldn't play without a connection lol, that was around the time PSN went down too, dark times.

Hello, I also own the academy edition. I had this same issue at first, in order to fix it, you need to download the family packs in the GT5 section of the Playstation Store. Then you should be able to use them offline.
