Let me explain: we're having a blizzard in the Northeastern USA as I write this. I just arrived in NYC from Massachusetts (about 200 miles).

The driving was probably the scariest driving I've ever done with low profile tires on my Pontiac G6. I had to keep my car lined up in the tire tracks in whatever lane I was in to maintain whatever traction I could get. Cars were spinning out all around me and the darkness and visibility made everything more difficult.

I firmly believe that the practice of patiently following the GT5 "blue line" prepared me for this experience.

Chuckle if you wish but boy am I happy to be home while this blizzard really revs up. Incidentally, when I got home my Bobs won their 1st 24 hr. race and I was rewarded with a brand new GT-One race car.

Think I'll take a break from driving at least til tomorrow morning (virtual that is) LOL

Yeah, the blizzard is NYC is nightmare-ish. Roads are entirely covered and there's no distinction between road and boardwalk in suburban roads.

Good job!

My wife works nights sometimes (Target), we live in southwest lower Michigan, lake effect country. I am on edge every time my wife and son have to drive through the snow. A 25 minute drive often turns into well over an hour.

Put some Blizzak tires on your car!

I love those Blizzak's. I have them on my Jeep Wrangler. I don't drive like a maniac in the snow and respect how dangerous winter weather can be, but I sure enjoy driving in the unplowed left lane while most others are stuck driving in the right lane following tire tracks made by others.

Wait, you saw the driving line in your head???
👍

No no no, I think what he means is, following the blue line on GT utilises the same skills as following the tyre snow grooves in real life. Thus all the hours he's spent concentrating on the blue-line, helped him concentrate on following those tyre grooves.

Any car in the world can drive in the snow with Blizzaks!

I had WS-50s on my 350Z (225 all around). The only thing that held me back was the ride height, my bumper would become a snow plow. Blizzaks + knowing how to drive + TCS = whats snow?

I now have them on my Maxima, same tires from the Z. It doesn't have TCS and I have yet to have a problem!

I am looking forward to driving to work tomorrow if its at least somewhat sane -- it better be since they knew about this for days and should have started treating the roads the second the first flake fell.

Yes. Exactly. Thank you. ;-)

Blizzaks suck.

General Altimax Arctic's are SO much better.

MA/RI/CT to New London wasn't bad at 4am this morning.
Orient Point to East Hampton was bad at 7am.

I drove THROUGH the snowstorm last xmas back to the cross sound ferry, this isn't bad.

Americans... can't drive on the snow :P

Cute, another American joke. Lots of them in this forum. You do realize you are generalizing something like 3 billion individuals into having the same trait?:indiff:

The bald wide ones on my Mazdaspeed 6 are fine up here in the blizzard that brought down the Metrodome... I grew up driving in this crap.

The best part is going down the highway seeing all the morons with 4WD who think they're invincible... in the ditch. When the tires lock up as you slam on the brakes, it doesn't matter how many wheels have power!

Break early, break gently, break in a straight line. No sudden breaking no sudden wheel movements, less you really have a nice open road where fishtailing or power sliding is ok.

And if you are in a sporty type car get some sandbags for the rear. Else your probably doomed.

Changing tyres is not the way we British do it. All season's for us, all year round - that's how we roll.

The way we do it is not go anywhere and declare national crisis when there is 5 inches of snow. Let's not kid ourselves... :D

plus do the same during acceleration

Wow, that is pretty neat, I guess.

Yeah, this blizzard is a bugger. Had to cancel a trip up to Lancaster PA becuase of the snow, yet we only have about half an inch of snow here :/ Every respectable weather station said about 6 inches or more... oh well. And plus, I wouldnt be driving anyway. *passes blame onto parents*

That's nice man! GT5 skills can be helpfull in real life, that's cool. Thank God here in Portugal, at least in my region, blizzard's never appens.

3 billion! :scared: haha

I think he is exaggerating our numbers for affect (by a factor of 10...so that must make us 10x in the snow?!) :sly:

I'm lucky in that I can walk to work. If the snow is bad I can put on my snowshoes or x-country skies!:)

👍

I hate all of the generalizations on this forum. I am from Connecticut, and am smack dab in the middle of this blizzard. I consider myself to be a great driver, no matter the weather condtion. I know people who have lived in New England their entire lives and they still can't drive well in the snow. It doesn't matter where your from, if your white, black, pink with pinstripes, what matters is how well you drive. Ignorance is bliss though. Nice avatar CCXRacer, I love Honda powersports, started on a Z50 when I was 4, been racing motocross ever since. Everytime I see that wing I get a warm feeling inside lol.

I agree with this 100%

As this thread started off in the wrong section and has turned into nothing but random comments about weather, tires and numerous other things not relating to GT5...
