Hi! I am new here, and I was refered here by The_Methadon. I'm having some real trouble with GT5 and I have searched for similar threads and found some answers, but none of them have resolved the issue.
When I try to complete many races, in particular the 200-lap Indy 500 and twice before on the Cirquit De La Sarthe, my PS3 either completely freezes (rare) or becomes the game itself becomes totally unresponsive-----I can access the XMB to manually quit the game or even send messages if I wanted to, but the game does not let me exit the race to save, even after winning the race. I am literally stuck in the game. The game APPEARS to be running ok------you can see the cars running in the background, the track animations and flags are all working, but the game is completely unresponsive. I literally cannot continue with the game, and needless to say, I'd be incredibly afraid to start a longer endurance race.
I have done the hard drive database restore 3 times now and the problem still continues.
I have played online and offline, but neither seems to have any effect.
I have disabled my personal BGM, which was a favorite feature of mine, and I have also manually disabled every single in-race music track bundled with the game because I was told this may be the issue. However, since then the problem has occurred twice.
My disc is surgically clean and has no visible flaws whatsoever.
The PS3 has had zero problems with any other games, and the game is up to date with the latest patch.
I bought my first PS3 for GT5. By the time GT5 came out, my first PS3 had broken with the YLOD.
I bought my second PS3, a brand new PS3 Slim, 5 months ago. I got GT5 on launch day and have been playing it when I can ever since.
I am out of ideas. Can anyone help? Fortunately, I was able to save a backup of my GT5 save, but that doesn't solve the problem of course.
