GT5 Cars at Goodwood

Mmmmmm fantastic! As kaz boasts, this game is about cars, its kind of a shame some of those cars are missing in GT5, let alone the goodwood track.

Looking at all those pics, just makes you want to play GT5 and try all those cars.

I took this photo at the Festival of 2009, I think I took more photos of this than of any other car that year, so I was particularly happy it's in GT5. Really gutted I couldn't afford to go this year, first time in four years I've missed it. Anyway, I haven't had a close enough look at the Zonda R to see if it's a particularly accurate model, but the cockpit is spot on.

Just a heads up: you can download 2 episodes of the "Goodwood Festival of Speed" (part 1 & 2, each around 14 min.) for FREE via the ingame GT-TV. 👍

Very interesting festival. Think it's from 2010. :)

Saw the Jag XJR-9 there a few years ago. Its owner, Justin Law, set the fastest run up the hill for the entire weekend. A car worth milions driven flat-out inches past a flint-stone wall !!!!!
RESPECT!!!
It was my favourite car of the weekend and is now my fave GT car!! :) :)

I've not been since 2007 now I think. I need to go again soon, although I'd like to give the Revival a go, too...

It is nice seeing cars you've become fond of in videogames in the metal, as it were. I was lucky one year, as a big GPL fan, to see a "celebration of F1" theme and nearly every car from the '67 season was there. Superb.
The "Mazda" Furai was also a surprise another year; I was stunned that it sounded so much better than an RX7, and thus my understanding of the three-rotor was attained! :D

Likewise, seeing so many real cars up close (you could touch any one of them, if you dared!) can open your eyes to examples whose charm are less apparent in a videogame.

If you get the chance to, go!

EDIT: Oh yeah, some of the runs up the hill are nuts. Anthony Reid's BTCC Primera is another one that really takes liberties (hey, it's BTCC...)

Spot the GT academy Z ;)
I also forgot the fact you can rub shoulders with the drivers, if you're lucky.

Goodwood had the Jaguar XJ13.

Gran Turismo 5 has the Jaguar XJ13.

'Nuff said.

PS: This is what PD should take as inspiration for their car list. Every single car in there is desirable and makes me drool with the mere thought of having it Premium-ized in GT5. Well, sans the stupid Prius/CR-Z/2-Wheeled Juke/6 Wheeler Covini.

It was worth it just to hear the 787b! Here's a few pictures i took this year - got a load of videos too, but just on my phone so not the best quality.

Watch coverage of the Sunday runs (the day i was there!) here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqw_IjQPOPE (1 of 7 videos).

With phones these days, the quality is good enough. Great pics, especially the X1 prototype.....if only someone could make it!!

And i wish i was there to hear the 787B, what a beast!

Yeah - they're a bit shaky, but not bad quality... :p I'll stick a couple on YouTube and post them here.

always try to watch this when it comes on itv, i think the hill climb the rally course and the circuit would have been great addition to gt5, that hill climb track looks quite hair raising.

Yeah, this year's is on 12th July at 8pm on ITV 4

I went for all 3 days in 2009, was absolutely amazing, great cars just inches away tearing up the hill. Let's not forget the rally stage in the trees too!

On GT4 I used 'Citta di Aria' as a faux Goodwood style track, the run from the start finish to the first arch by the main church was about 40 seconds in a top car. I even had a list of my times in various cars from the start to the arch, a-la goodwood. That's the track I miss the most in GT5. Would love to scream around that in cockpit view in a 787b!

I saw Kaz (and Translator Guy!) in 2009 judging the cars in the show.
Wish the Goodwood Hillclimb and Revival circuit were in GT5, would really add something unique to the game. It fits the ethos of the GT series, collect cars to drive rather than out and out racing. I can keep dreaming....

Lets put it like this the mazda 787b was out of this world, enjoyed the event even more this year as I went for two days, I have a nice video if the mazda 787b bouncing off the rev limiter might have to upload to you tube. Just uploading now, if you have any other requests just ask and I will upload them!

Who was driving the Mazda?
I'm not sure, we were watching it queing to leave the Cathedral Paddock on Friday, IIRC it was one of the crew who drove it down to the start. Jonny Herbert was there this year, he was down as driving something else anyway.

I missed seeing it go up the hill :(

edit: ^ ah there we go

ps. was anyone by the NASCAR in Cathedral Paddock when they were warming it up, my ears are still bleeding :D

Yeah the Red Bull Camry?! I have a short video of that too - it was so loud!

Here's my shaky 787B video!

here is the f1 videos,

for thoose of you who have never seen an f1 IRL they are even louder than you would think

The 800bhp Orange Celica ST205 was fastest car there (that went around the course) lol.

My dad had a 400bhp Red one, doesn't compare xD was really fast though.
