me and a mate have both had GT5 crash, using the same car and the same track and it locks up in the same place!

Pratice mode
Suzuka
Lancer RM's
both of us had the system lock up on the start finish line (as you are doing a flying lap)
mine locked up twice, he had it 3 times yesterday.

anyone else had this?

Mine doesn't crash, but since it came back online the game stalls for about a second as I cross the start finish line of any track in any car.

I've had that issue since before the PSN outage. On certain tracks, when using a specific ghost lap, the game freezes as I cross the line.

Other times, it lags for a second or two as if to record the ghost.

lol, moderator triple post. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Anyways, it does take some processing for a ghost car to spawn, so that's probably the problem.

The above mod should be penalised. 20pt infraction!

That ghost freezing lag has been there since the beginning. Sometimes worse, sometimes barely noticeable. I usually turn the ghost off if it bothers me

I have been having significant load time issues since the update. While connected to the network, the game will often stall between any screen that has the grey, pulsing GT logo. Happens about half the time when connected. I've also noticed Practice Mode lag at the Start/Finish line as well.
The issues are so severe I have disconnected the network. Otherwise the game is unplayable.

I've experienced some serious loading issues also. I haven't even been able to play today because game cant load and it gets stuck somewhere every time I try to go play. It also gives some error message if I let it be and wait for it to load the game. BLaaaaaah!

It was frezing in practice mode (when the newtork was down) for me, always at the same exact time in a lap.

You should use the brakes more effectively.

Oh wait, the program. I haven't had that problem. Do you possibly have your own music playing instead of the normal music?

no, i have the music turned down and only GT5 music in the system

Dang, that means i don't know the problem. GT5 used to freeze for me when it hit a certain song that must have been corrupt, so i just turned music off.

My game started to freeze too... Even though I haven't connected to PSN after the outage. Froze two times in a row yesterday when loading the main menu.

Faulty discs?

EDIT: The game crashes the PS3 in a weird way too. Usually when the PS3 crashes I would hear three beeps and the console turns off. This time I hear three beeps but the console doesn't turn off...

I read a report online today, on how the new 3.61 firmware is destroying all PS3 fats. I suggest we clean them dust free, and add some added airflow to it.

That's only to do with L.A. Noire. The PS3 overheats. Turns out similar problems are happening on the Xbox.

My game hasn't been crashing but I keep getting disconnected playing online sometimes.

I am as well and I've been playing since it came out with no problems. I run an online room with up to 10-12 people without a hiccup before this firmware update and PSN outage.

Froze once and crashed once yesterday whilst doing the Suzuka 1000kms. Both times using the Audi A4 touring car.

1st time: Lap 14 on the second turn after the esses. Frozen. Could do nothing except eject / inject the disk. holding the power button brought it back to the PS3 menu.

2nd time: Lap 3 on the back straight. Two beeps and the console turned itself off.

I have had the console and game for about 3 months. It had crashed three times before during the first week of ownership. I don't remember what car/track it did it on that time.

NOTE: I have done other enduros without a problem even though I have not done any of them on a single sitting. Usually do 2 hours at night, pause, go to bed, wake up, do 2 hours in the morning before work.

Crashed twice today while doing seasonal events. Supercar challenge. Grand Valley in a zonda. Both times on the second lap.

@#$#@@!!

Frozen 5 hours 44 minutes into the Tsukuba 9 hours..... I got a hammer in the garage that is calling my name!!

You left it paused overnight? Yikes! And I wonder why it freezes on you.

Mugo
without in-race game saves. How else are we supposed to complete them? :)

Set aside 24 hours and a case of red bull! Get way ahead so you can park it and maintain your lead. Or have a friend drive shifts.

Pausing has nothing to do with the freezing. Mine just froze again on the 9 hr tsukuba around the 5 hour mark. This after leaving it off for a day and starting the race right after turning it on. No pausing was used.

Well, I have almost... no make that I have given up on this PS3. Freezing and crashing pretty much every time I try to play. It does one of four things:

1. Turns itself off 10 seconds after turning it on. All lights out. May have been off for days before.
2. Freezes 5 minutes after turning on. Have to pull plug to get it going again.
3. Reboots after a random amount of time.
4. Turns off or freezes on endurance races. Usually at the 5 hour mark but sometimes after 30 minutes.

Just trying to work out a good time to back up and send it back for warranty. It is only 4 months old.

This is why the longest endurance race I've driven was 4hrs.
Until PD decides it's (Surprise!) not "realism" to make one driver run 24 hours straight. :dunce:
I noticed at LeMans this year they made a big deal about a driver taking three sessions in a row. 💡

GT5 locked up twice yesterday. Once while Trial Mountain in Supercar seasonal was loading (never loaded- just sat there infinity). Then after a race online at LaSarth it just wouldn't respond at the race lounge and I had to quit game.

My PS3 rarely freezes during games, but I had an issue similar to OP with that seasonal rally timetrial at Tuscan with that standard Mitsubishi Lancer rally car with the rounded rear wing and a ghost going over finish line a couple 3 months ago.. I think that's a bug. It would pause going over the line or sometime complete game kicking back to XMB or freezing w/ black screen.

GT5 is locking up more after last update I think.
