Does anyone know how to back up our GT5 file in case our PS3 takes a dump. Last time this happen to me I was able to take my console to an electronic guy, and we rigged it to turn on long enough for me to do a data transfer, but that's still cutting it close in my book'

Thanks!

USB stick, although in the 2.06 update, it backs up itself on the HDD. I still recommend backing up on USB in case the HDD dies.

This will back up my whole game file(exp pts), plus cars? That seems too easy'

Yes.

Put any storage medium you want into your console - usually a USB flash drive - go to "Save Data Utility, find your Gran Turismo data, press Triangle, select copy and select your storage medium.

Restoring is the reverse of backing up.

Thanks to all! 👍

The only thing you will not have in your backup are replays and photos.

And that is because they are in the Game Data utility.

The storage device you use needs to be formatted to FAT32 so the PS3 will see it. Usually USB sticks will be ready to go, but if not, just stick it in your computer and reformat it.

I think this applies to external/internal hard drives and not USB sticks, I could be wrong though. I have my PS3 back up files (saves etc. not system) on a USB stick formatted to ext4 and works.

I am very happy they did this because my ps3's disk drive went bust (dropped it haha) so i bought a new ps3 and got my old one fixed now im stuck with 2 ps3's but its just to know your data is backed up

You can throw an ordinary 2.5" HDD or even a SSD in your spare PS3. Sony has details online on how to properly set it up.
