I have been MIA from the GT5 community for quite some time because of a constant problem - my game freezing on the GT Logo. I have went through 3 consoles (2 60GB BC's, 1 160GB Slim) and 2 copies of GT5 in hopes of circumventing the problem.

I have cleared caches, un-installed/re-installed game, reloaded older game saves, and removed the backup copy of game save data to get it to work for a while - but I'm still hitting the proverbial wall again.

Generally the logo freezes at start up, but I've found deleting the backup game save from the HDD allows me to get passed it. I went to an online lobby and upon leaving I'm once again stuck with the logo...

I haven't tried starting a completely new game save because I don't want to go through licenses and such again - but I fear my present game data may have corrupted somewhere along the line.

Is there anything that I have missed that could fix this issue? I've used Google to do some searching, but I haven't ran across this situation... yet.

You are not alone on this one.

When I am at the logo screen it freezes sometimes up to 4 minutes and when I finish Seasonal Events it freezes for sometime at the logo screen this always happen when I am only online.

It's happened to me as well but not to the same degree, similar to hall90's aforementioned scenarios, though I haven't actually waited to see how long it takes to "thaw."

Has anyone tried the method that is suggested by Yahoo! Answers?

No. It only happens when your are online but when offline It never happens to me but I went online now to play GT5 and the logo stayed there for 2 seconds but It happens every now and then when It freezes.

Mine doesn't have to be online to freeze up.

If It does it offline well It is and issue. Someone here must know or go on Google and do some more searching. does It do it for other games or it is only GT5

I haven't really noticed it happening in any other game, but there is a few games I haven't played in a while that I might just have to run to see if anything occurs.

Are you positive about that? I know from reading these forums over the years that the GT logo loop usually indicates network issues. That logo (the grey GT logo) usually comes up during network communication so if your connection has interference or something, it'll loop until it finds a constant stream.

GT5 is a very very network sensitive game, unlike most games out there. If you're connection is off, it's game over.

Try physically disconnecting from your network, either by turning off your PS3's wifi or unplugging your eithernet cable. Just, not signing in, isn't good enough.

I will give that a shot this evening - I may have to invest in an Ethernet connection if this is the case.

It's is the very best option, the WiFi card in the PS3 is crap, especially if there's things around that will break the signal.

Good luck.

It happens with ethernet connections, as well.

This kind of issue normally suggests a slow connection, now,my connection is usually good but during the last month,I have been getting disconnected from chatrooms, lobbys etc.

After my data corrupted last evening(someone froze a lobby while I was saving when leaving lobby)I still had my backup file so it went to that and that inturn creates a new GT5 main file with the 'GRAN TURISMO 5' (Just like my old one) and the backup 'Gran Turismo 5(Backup)'.

Since I got corrupted my loading times and connection to gt5 lobbies has improved massively and loading is also much improved. But however I don't know if this can improve your current situation.
