I was just curious because I thought I remembered more cars in previous installments….and yeah there were a ton more options….like over 2x almost 3x as many vehicles.

Can we even expect them to eclipse 500 cars gt7?

830 of the cars in GT5 and GT6 were direct ports from GT4, with lower quality exteriors and no interiors.

Really you need to compare it to same-era cars, in which case GT7 is behind GT4 and GT2, but ahead of GT Sport (final tally), GT6, GT5, GT3, GT1, and GT Sport (launch tally).

Yes.

GT Sport launched with 168 cars and over three years had 169 added. GT7 launched with 80 additional cars (well... 84, but four cars didn't carry over), and has thus far had 6 added.

If GT7 receives three cars each month (as it has been doing since they started arriving in May), it'll reach 500 cars in August 2024.

Happy with the quantity of cars in GT7, I want more tracks and events.

We don't need 1000+ cars in my opinion.
I agree

I don’t necessarily want 1000 cars….but it would be nice to have more American vehicles besides 20 corvettes, 10 vipers, and 5 mustangs

Or to just like….have Acura represented? Lol give us the TLX options. Give us more pontiacs…give us Cadillac?

I would love to see more European road cars. I'm not interested in fake cars or even race cars (there is enough of those already). I would love to see more cars like M5, M6, RS4, RS6, more Porsche's, Koenigsegg, etc. It is meant to be a 'real driving simulator', but there seem to be more racing cars than road cars.

Quality over quantity
Unfortunately the quality of the selection isn't great either, if you're into real world machinery. The list is heavily populated with fictional race, rally cars and VGTs. On paper, in pure numbers, some manufacturers look ok but then you look at the actual cars and it's just several versions of the same single model (eg Mitsubishi).

Plus there is still a big lack of modern cars, road and race. The lineups for many manufacturers are rather outdated. Of course you need classics as well but people are always going to want to drive the cars they're seeing and reading about right now, or the cars they see racing right now. Not 8 year old versions (Ferrari 458 GT3).

I would love to see some of the Benz e class cars….or the slower Porsche models like the boxster.

Like I love a lot of the options GT7 has. A lot of actually quality selections…but I’m left noticing the missing ones too…..distinctly missing a lot of 60s/70s muscles cars. It’s only the bellybutton cars of that era and a few are just prof. Tuned cars and not just the standard models

Why do we need more cars in the game, as practically 95% of the cars I have in my garage, I have nowhere to use on the track, because there are no events in which I could use them.
I think it's more to do with people wanting "more cars", in the hope something they really want to see in the game will finally appear.

There's a LOT of iconic sports cars (and just regular road cars) missing from the past few decades, especially the ones that have already appeared in GT in the past, you can't deny this fact.

Won't happen. Acura is the luxury brand of Honda, and we already have Honda. If PD were to add Acura, it's a whole new licensing agreement for what would be a handful of cars that they already have under Honda, and maybe 1 or 2 new cars not already in the game.

It's easy to think that PD could have negotiated a deal with Honda to include Acura, but for awhile now Acura has done their own engineering in North America, effectively working at arms-length from Honda, doing their own thing, making cars like the TLX for the North American market. If PD want Acura, they would quite likely have to go direct to Acura, which would cost them just as much as any other manufacturer license, except for only a few cars that they don't already have under Honda.

How is that any different to any other manufacturer that only has a few models? They pay Fiat for only two cars, TVR and RUF for one car.

You also have no idea what any licensing agreement would be, they won't pay everyone the same price. We already know this when Lotus were unhappy they weren't paid as much as McLaren and Aston Martin.

I think the issues with what cars are in the game is that the more the merrier as long as they are all of the same quality. Another thing is that everyone would want to see their own cars in the game as well.

My friend has a 2017 Nismo 370z which would be better than the stock 370z in game already, but it probably would never come to the game. However there would have been a chance if they had multiple versions of the same car like the older games, I used to use the 89 skyline gtr for the 80's race and later the N1 version as it was lighter initially. Same with NSX type S Zero in GT4.

It is always nice to have the exact car you want and wouldn't take too much work to add into the game but only if the version of that car is worth it.

Making a new car from scratch takes a lot more work and most people probably wouldn't use it anyway depending on the car. Waste of time. To bring back the same car with minimal 3d model change needed and some stats that are different would be a lot quicker and having more average 'run of the mill' cars would help find cheaper deals on the used car market like the old games. Of course, as we all know and agree on, they have a lot more things to work on as a priority before they make the 'excess' cars.

Shameless plug to my other points on this forum is that they need to have the 'career' or single player stuff sorted out and streamlines with more content and plenty to do. WE need to be able to choose the races and championships, not the Café menu, we also need standing starts with optional qualifying imo. We will then get to play the game OUR way from rags to riches. The Sophy AI might be apart of that step.

The point is for the paragraph above, the extra race types from extra single player content would have to be there to have meaning to new cars being brought into the game especially if they are duplicates or non race cars. Then to shoot a shotgun at the whole post here, licensing will mess up a lot of that plan.

Clamping down licenses for cars seems to be like herding cats.

I get that Acura is a luxury line….but like….Lexus exists in game?

Lexus is the equivalent to Acura

Same thing with genesis vs Hyundai

More actual race cars. I don't like the GT Originals - basically fictional race cars.

I mean they handle good etc. But I rather cars like the GT300 BRZ than tye NSX Gr.3 with generic livery.

Yes, yes I do. At the very least there should be each displacement option for every generation. As it stands now all we have are the 1.6 NA and 2.0 ND.
It would be nice to be able to sort the cars in our garage by displacement.

having it on the highest and of similar quality is a blessing.

I was a gt5 fan but that standard car bs was awful for immersion

You can use every car, right now. In the mean time, until PD do create certain events, you can use the Custom Race feature to actually use those cars. If you’re concerned about Credits, yes, the payout are low, but you can still use all the cars in your garage. PD added the feature of locking selected cars. So, you can go to your garage and click on Car Year, Manufactuer, Category, etc. It will stay locked to that car list. Then, as you use the Custom Grid option, you can select the cars you want to use. Pledges can’t switch the user car as easily, but the cars can be used at every track.

I understand players may not feel like going through hoops, but it takes a short time to set up one race. There’s even timed races of one minute, if players are short on time.

Adding more cars are welcome. Adding more events are welcome.

Look at it from the standpoint of what they bring to the game.

The manufacturers in the game all have cars, yes, but more importantly they also have history - something to add to the game beyond just their cars. You can learn things about the starts of the various manufacturers and how they contributed to the history of the automobile, so you include those little manufacturers that contributed - Fiat had the wildly popular Fiat 500, TVR put Britain back on the map by making raw sports cars in the Griffith and Tuscan Cerberus/Speed 6, DMC made the DeLorean that was featured in Back To The Future - a movie that put the car in the minds of a lot of kids at the time. RUF were a small tuner brand at first, they did such great work and built up their brand that they're now recognised as their own brand/manufacturer with history.

I'm not trying to hate on Acura here, but they don't have a history like that. They're a luxury brand from an already established, historical company.

Do some tuning and take it to Sarthe. That usually scratches my itch.

I'd much rather go back to the blacked-out interiors and have multiple variants of each car as well. In fact, at least half of the race cars are so busy/cluttered with the camera so far down/back that it impedes way too much of the track and peripherals. Many of them feel like driving from the back seat. I'd take a well-implemented generic interior (with good visibility) and twice as many cars than ultra-detailed interiors I never even glance at, aside from "looking through it" trying to see before giving up and going to bumper or bonnet cam.

I'd be happier with what we have if it was more varied in selection. Get so sick of all the fake GT3/GT4/VGT cars and would gladly trade half (or more) of them for a better selection of road cars, Super GT, more LMGTP's, LMP's, Group 3's, etc.

Also….the interiors can be made more generic in general. Nothing like getting into a car that is fully decked out for racing with 700+LBs removed….and it’s got the full interior with a roll cage that attaches to the cushions of the rear seat 😂

I have a lot of cars that I do this with. Take a normal street car…tune it up…race above my class
You can make a lot of 4 cylinder cars competitive on the 700pp races and they are a good challenge in the midst of not really having that many races to go through.
Someone else above talked about career mode and such and I couldn’t agree more. Need some long championships that you can split up over time and earn points on to win.
