Gt5 has been freezing on me lately..

I'm currently reinstalling it.

I noticed that even after I installed, when a loading screen came up, an "installing" icon will pop up on the bottom right corner.

That should not happen if I installed right? So I am hoping this works. I got the latest update aswell and am using custom tracks for both menu and race.

I think after the initial install the game unzips data as you progress.
Can't say I'm certain I'm not very computer literate.

If youre using an old FAT console, be careful it may be about to die soon.

Also yeh it still installs after the 8gb, mostly little things though, if you didnt install at all it would take a LOT longer.

And Ive never had any music on in GT5, makes it much more fun, the music is shockingly bad.

I may have (temporarily) solved the problem of custom BGM freezing the game.

I was having the same problems described above. The game would lock up at the same spot every time when I raced to my own music. When I turned off the racing BGM but left the menu BGM on, it locked up at a menu screen once.

So... I shortened my playlists. I created two new playlists, "GT race" and "GT menu" within my PS3 home screen, and only put 8 songs into each. This was down from the 65 songs I had in the playlist that was causing problems.

So there were three things that changed:
1) Shorter playlists
2) Different files within each playlist (maybe a file was corrupted?)
3) Separate menu and racing playlists to pull from
Any or all of these could have solved the problem.

So far, I can't get the game to crash under the new playlist setup. I have duplicated the previous lockup points, and the game is seamless

I hope this helps everyone, and I hope Polyphony can correct this bug in vers. 1.06!

Thanks GTeaFive. I have a menu and race Playlist already though. But I can shorten it up.

I noticed that when it freezes, there is no BGM playing, or it reverts back to it's orignal music in the menu, then when I race there is no race BGM. Then the big freeze happens.
