Well, my biggest fear finally happened last night. Was trying to get into a room to race via online. Upon entering, everything just froze. XMB also was frozen as well. Pressed the power button, but to no avail. Held the power button, same result...NOTHING! I had no choice but to pull the cord from the back to restart everything. I powered the ps3 back up and get this HDD is corrupted and needs to be restored message, and I'm thinking "oh crap". So I click on the option to restore it and it does it's thing (10-15mins). Shuts down, and automatically restarts back up...the same message appears, (you can multiply this process 5 times). By now I'm furious, I can feel my BP rising. So I called it a night. In the AM, same deal. No progress. Thinking about it all day during work, I didn't speak to anyone I was so upset. My co-workers knew right away not to try and make small talk with me today lol. I called gamestop and inquired about whether or not people have been reporting/complaining about GT5 freezing up etc. Of course they tell me that the game is perfect and haven't heard anything wrong about the game. I just laughed and hung up. I returned from work acknowledging defeat and did a complete system restore (lost everything). I felt like a noob when I had to set everything back up on the ps3.
I did it the straight up way (no farming). Through winning races, grinding and legit trades. It's very discouraging to start all over again knowing you had possession of:
Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SuperVeloce - (Acquired it the same DAMN NIGHT)!!!!!
Lexus LFA (Matte black)
Amuse S2000 GT1 turbo
Audi R8 5.2 FSI quattro (Premium)
Acura NSX Type-R (premium)
Supra RZ (fully modded) (I went through hell getting this & it was my baby)
Mercedes SL65 (fully modded)
Nissan Skyline R34
Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type A (FD) '02 (Premium)
Nissan SKYLINE GT-R V·spec II Nür '02 (R34) (Premium)
Just to name a few with all the licenses completed up to IC, sitting on +300k in the bank. I don't even want to start over until that back-up save patch come in. Quite frankly, I'm just going to birthday farm it to back where I was financially and vehicle wise. It's ridiculous for anyone to invest time and energy into a flawed game. I was one of the few people who didn't complain at all about the game. Up until now I played it and loved it. I didn't care much about all the little things people were pointing out (graphics of standard cars, no cockpit views, long loading times, etc) I was just happy to have it and make progress through the game. Now, I don't know what to think.
*Oh btw I have a slim 160gb PS3. Approx 2 1/2yrs old (Never moved from the place I nested it 2 1/2yrs ago when I first bought it). Never had ANY issues with it at all. This definitely has something to do with the software and/or the GT5 online gameplay.
I wish I can offer some sage advice as to how to avoid this issue for the time being until the patch comes, but I don't. It can happen to anyone at anytime. It really sucks.
