Hello GT-friends.
Nearly three weeks ago I made a big mistake. I took money, bought an Xbox and FM4 Limited Edition. For the first hours I was very impresses about the cars (quantity and quality) and the whole package of Forza 4.
Now, hours and hours later I returned to my beloved PS3 and GT5.
Why?
O.k., Forza 4 has it´s good things: A lot of actual cars in good quality, the possibility to put on vinyls, the engine sound (not all; small less powerful cars sound too powerful!).
But for me personally the bad things predominate:
No endurance races, no real race feeling.
Bad quality of some race tracks, especially the Nordschleife: For me as a German the Nordschleife is nearly not recognizable even the overall environment looks not as the Eifel and Nordschleife always in fog is boring. Yes, also at the Nurburgring you will see the sun sometimes!
No head- and taillights: Racing the Nordschleife on a foggy day with a car going 300+ Km/h without lights is highly unrealistic and in reality suicidal.
No city street courses: Maybe T10 will do some as DLC ($) but in the moment it´s frustrated to have no street tracks.
Graphic: Too much shiny for me. Everything shines from the cars to the tracks. It looks too polished. The car´s always look like they were preparated for a car show, standing on a booth with 1 Mega Watts light above.
Bad replay style and graphics: Interestingly the cars look less detailed in replay especially if you drive a race with a lot of cars. Compare GT5 and Forza 4 replay. In GT5 sometimes you can´t know for sure if you look a race on TV sports channel, in Forza 4 replays the cars look like RC toys. O.k., it´s only replays but for mee looking replays is much fun.
The A.I.: Too much dumb guys on the race track that try to ram you off the track. Not fast, only aggressive.
Overall I must say that for me Forza 4 is more of a community inspired Hollywood style street-car racer simulation and GT5 is a race simulation with race and street cars.
If PD will give me a little more aggressive engine sounds, some more actual street cars from non-Japanese manufacturers in Premium and some more tracks I will have the perfect game! 👍
