GT5 in black and white

well yesterday i downloaded GT5 from the Japanese servers cost somthing like £19.46 but its in black and white most of the game is in english but rest is in traditional chinese. is there anyway to get the game in colour?
i recon the game is ntsc and i have a pal console.

... and I think that the PS3 has no region code anymore.
 
@ ftfw: how does your PS3 connect to your TV?
 
It's not about the PAL console and it's not about the connection. It's about the fact that the TV is probably an older PAL one that can't display NTSC signal in colour. In other words, you need a new TV or the PAL area game. I had the same problem with the demo which our new TV fixed for good.
 
I'm also thinking about a PAL/NTSC problem. The tv may be able to accept NTSC signals, but not through every possible connection type, which is why I asked, and why I think it can be a connection problem.
 
PS3 is region free and will run PS3 games from any region...

Your TV is PAL only which is why it is black and white.... BUY A NEW TV!! :sly:

Yep, buy a new tv and choose a digital (with HDMI) model.
 
May I stress again that it may only be a matter of a false setting in the tv's menu that prevents him from seeing Prologue in color? :grumpy:

Sure, but he should know that he probably only needs to alter a setting on his tv before being told that there's the need for a new one. It still is his decision to get a new one.
 
Thats why i sent him to that thread. As i thought that issue had been resolved

S-Video signals can end up in B&W if you're not on the right input.

I had a similar problem, my big TV packed up after I'd had GT5P for about 3 days.... so I'd been playing it on an OLD 21" TV, not multi-standard.. Black and white...

As I can't afford to pick up a decent 42" 1080p yet I cheaped out and bought a 50" Sony Rear Projection, for £100 !!!! BARGAIN... picture ain't stunning, but it's no worse than my old CRT.. trust me people rear projections are a bargain now! Most people don't want something that large (deep) anymore, and the can't ship 'em on eBay so they go for a song... The £100 i paid was generous..... although when the bulbs go it's pretty much skip-city.

Quite easily their biggest drawback and probably why they're not selling anymore, but the bulbs last longer than some of the early plasmas, so I guess they're not all that bad! :dopey:

Personally, the rear-projection I had was rubbish (seemingly bad focus -> generally blurry,) but that was also an early example.

Back OT: There is an issue with AV inputs being "black and white" when on the wrong mode (S-Video related,) but it's usually accompanied by severe image aberration (noise/ general fuzziness, 'clock' lines etc.) If the image is monochrome, but relatively clean, then my guess is ftfw does "need" a new TV, but ftfw should indeed try every permutation of the TV's AV settings first! :nervous:
