Hello all! I'm here to post about a GT5 league that's being run over on a small racing league and we're in need of a few members to join before we can get racing.

As the title of thread says, its a IndyCar spec world championship where all members will use the FGT model. Like any championship, clean driving is an absolute must. For the rules on driving standards, plus car details, see below or check out the link to our GT5 hub here: (The season calendar can also be found here) http://formulaonepsnchampionships.freeforums.org/indycar-series-season-1-f21.html

These are the official Rules and Regulations of the GT5 2012 IndyCar World Championship Series. All drivers must be aware of these rules at all times during the season and be especially aware of them before entering a Grand Prix, failure to do this and you will be punished for slowing down the event and entering unprepared. All rules are subject to change by the Championship Organisers during any point of the season with or without consent of the participating drivers.

Driving Options:

Transmission – Auto/Manual
Driving Line – On
Traction Control – 1-3

Drivers – Each team must consist of 3 drivers max
Teams Car Manufacturer – If possible we wish for teams to use the same coloured car and if you can, the same colour as your real life manufacturer does, however this is not compulsory.

Points System and World Championship

The points system used will be that of the official 2012 GT5 IndyCar Series World Championship. Points are awarded from 1st place through to 16th place like so:

1st - 30 Points
2nd - 25 Points
3rd - 21 Points
4th - 18 Points
5th - 16 Points
6th - 14 Points
7th - 12 Points
8th - 10 Points
9th - 8 Points
10th - 6 Points
11th - 4 Points
12th - 4 Points
13th - 4 Points
14th - 2 Points
15th - 2 Points
16th - 2 Points

The IndyCar Series World Championship driver's title will be awarded to the driver who has scored the highest number of points, taking into consideration all the results obtained during the Events which have actually taken place.

The title of IndyCar Series World Champion Constructor will be awarded to the Constructor which has scored the highest number of points, with results from both cars being taken into account.

If two or more constructors or drivers finish the season with the same number of points, the higher place in the Championship (in either case) shall be awarded to:
A) The holder of the greatest number of 1st Places
B) If the number of 1st Places is the same, the holder of the greatest number of 2nd Places
C) If the number of 2nd Places is the same, the holder of the greatest number of 3rd Places and so on until a winner emerges.

In order to score points drivers must complete the full race distance. If drivers fail to finish they will be marked as Ret. (Retired) on the official results or DSC (Disconnected) if you disconnected.

Additionally, unlike the Formula One Championship, drivers will be allowed to drop their worst 2 race results from the season, and only your top 15 results will count towards the title. This includes any DNS' or retirements, however disqualifications will count towards your 15 result tally.

Qualifying

In qualifying drivers may only use the tyres provided for the event (Chosen by the organisers and will appear in the race preview thread). Drivers are not forced to qualify on any particular compound, whether it be the soft, medium or hard, it is purely their decision, additionally drivers do not even have to set a time at all.

When a driver is exiting the pit lane, they must stay within the white lines of the pit exit. Likewise, when a driver is entering the pit lane they must make it clear that this is their intention as to not impede another driver.

When a driver is on an out lap, in lap or a warm up lap (A lap between 2 flying laps), they must make sure that they do not impede other drivers by moving out of the way where possible, even if that means running wide at a corner, or using an escape road. Drivers are advised to make space on the straights too and not block the racing line. At some circuits, especially the street circuits it will be harder for drivers to move out of the way however they must do so when possible.

When on a flying lap, if the driver comes up behind another driver on a flying lap who is going slower, they do not need to move out of the way. If the faster driver feels as if they are being held up they must pass the car carefully during the lap or back off and create space to try again on the following lap.

Race: Driving Standards

All driving errors on track will be looked at after the race by the event organisers and the participating drivers.

No provisional penalties are made for driving standards. Penalties will be decided by the Championship Organisers after an event provided another driver has lodged a complaint via PM. Penalties will vary based on the severity of the incident and whether the drivers involved have been involved in incidents before. To make an official the complaint, the defendant must have a form of evidence, whether it is a primary or secondary video of the incident.

If you are involved in an incident, and you have taken another driver off the track, you must let them back through. This means you will have to slow down somewhere off of the racing line and let them re-pass you if you hit them off the track. Failure to do so will not help the your case when defending if the driver hit decides to argue for a penalty.

All drivers must show respect to each other not only on the forum but also on the race track, any deliberate actions towards another driver will result in a severe penalty. If you have been involved in a collision during the race, you should wait until after the race to make a complaint, instead of complaining during the race whilst the other drivers are still racing (If the user has a mic).

Additionally drivers need to be more aware of when a car is around you as you do not have any indication as to where they are as Codemasters F1 games give you. Drivers are advised to use their mirrors at all times possible

Oval Racing Rules

Many drivers here will not be familiar with the rules of Oval Racing so we advise you read over them very carefully as although it looks simple, it is not and if an incident occurs they are far more catastrophic than any normal road race.

The first thing the organisers must stress, is to hold your line. By this we mean if you are on the inside when fighting a driver, stick to the inside and do not take to normal racing line; if you are on the outside then stick to the outside when there's a car by your side. This is to avoid any collisions. By cutting across the track you endanger your car and the other drivers.

Another thing to remember is that the grid will be very compact, and with slipstream positions will change throughout the race so dont defend too hard, it's very likely that you will slipstream past them again.

This compact grid also means that space will be limited, when going for a move you need to calculate it. Don't send any maneuvers up the inside into a corner or suddenly move the car out left or right as there may well be a car there. Please lift and wait to make your move to avoid contact and multiple car pile ups.

We ask you to practice a fair bit for the oval races too, do long runs as the car handles and feels very different on worn tyres. When your tyres get worn out, you will find yourself sliding so all you have to do is lift and ease the throttle while turning. It takes time to find the right time to get on and off the throttle when the tyres are at different stages of life.

Car Setups

All car setups are available to drivers. This means that drivers can change suspension, LSD, brake balance, transmission and all things available to them.

Here is an example of how the championship table looks:
