Hey guys:) As a fairly well known PS3 fanboy in the youtube circles, I do often try quite a few xbox360 titles at my friends house to check out and see what all the fuss is about, as do likewise in reverse. Having been hammering at GT5 tonnes lately and with the release of Forza 4 to praising reviews, I decided to check out the FZ4 demo this evening to get a closer look at forzas tailpipe...that sounded bad eh?

Since it is only a demo its not a full representation of all aspects available so I do understand this. Most of what I will say is based on visuals alone since I'm not THAT adept to the intracies of the sim world and won't make the mistake of 'trying' to act like I do.

It is a very pretty game when on the track. Definately a step up from FZ3. BUT, what I find between the two games is this, that FZ4 still looks like a game, and GT5 has fooled me on many occasions especially with a replay going and no on screen data to be akin to near real life. When I say it looks like a game, its similar to the look of knowing that when you play Shift 2, or NFS Hot Pursuit etc that while the car models are fantastic you know theres effects in place to keep it away from that edge of 'near real life' visuals.

Going back a step, when you select your car you can look around it in Free Look mode which is like Auto Vista but without the interactive ability. As close as you can get and knowing that in a big white room with nothing else to render the game is pushing this particular model VERY high in polygons, I found that the GT5 premiums are STILL on par with it.

When in game racing one thing that struck me...BLOOM. Its very powerful even to the point of reflecting off parts of the snow on the sides of the track to the point of blinding. This is where the game presents a more 'hollywood' lighting feel, like a Michael Bay film. It doesnt make the game look terrible at all, BUT it does keep it away from the kind of graphical fidelity GT5 presents which gives that sense of 'is that replay really a game?'

The game has a 'sheen' to it visually which, as I've stated previous, keeps it in the realm of appearing like a 'game' and not closer to 'real life'.

Cockpits are nicely done but I couldnt look with my right analog stick like you can in GT5 and other titles like Shift 2. In fact the cockpits in Shift 2 I feel are better because of that immersion of being strapped into a beast with wheels, especially helmet cam.

I did play the Rivals mode and beat a mate of his with the Zonda (thanks GT for all the driving instruction) and enjoyed that mode quite a bit. I took off all assists and well, I just fail at realism LOL So I'm not sure how it goes in comparison to GT5 on the sim aspect.

But I will say this, that until another racing title can produce real life drivers from them playing the game, and be endorsed by racers like David Coulthard, I think GT5 or GT in general is still the lead here.

Not to be too crude but Forza 4 is like the chick with the big tits. Everyone including your girlfriend (GT5) is suddenly irrelevant in the wake of the 'bigger and newer' but in time I wonder, like with GT5, will there be some big issues coming through and people wondering if it is indeed better.

Thank you for the time it took to read, I do appreciate it and hope it made some sense:)

Comparing a demo to a full retail game makes this comparison invalid. I am sorry but you can't judge a demo up against a full game and saying this game is better because the demo wasn't that great.

I seconded that, even though a demo should be very close to the retail release, it's not very fair.

Play the full game then come back. The demo was not only weak in my opinion, but didnt even get a little taste of FM4 is.

Demo vs Full game....really? :dunce:

Well i did state that most of the comparisons were visually and unless the full retail is outrightly more impressive ontop of the current graphic fidelity showcased then yeah.
