Apologies if this has been posted before but I am very frustrated in that I have lost access to my cars won/bought in my garage and a number of tracks will not load in “Arcade” mode.

I have tried to reinstall game data but this does not work either. I am therefore stuck with Merc A180 which is not winning me many races, please help or I will need to consider selling this game on…..

Thanks

I'm no expert but it sounds to me like your disc is either dirty or scratched or it's a Blu Ray issue , i.e. your PS3 needs its laser cleaned or it's breaking.

Try cleaning your disc first and maybe vacuuming your PS3 ( as described in your PS3 manual ) .

Also try some other games , just to make sure......

Good luck.:)

OK, thet may well be the problem. I have tried all of the removing cache, deleting saved data etc and this has not worked. I am using an original 60gb FAT PS3 so maybe its about to give up.

Will try the hovering trick but unsure how you go about cleaning the laser, is this a specialist disc?

Thanks

I think you can get Blu Ray lens cleaners , although i've never been able to find one in my area.....
Another ( yet drastic ) option ( & only if you're out of warranty ) , is a full PS3 strip down & clean , there are some YouTube videos out there that help as I remember.

Worth also checking that the things you want are "favourited", as arcade mode seems to be based on that. >:0)

How about rebuilding the hardrive and database from the service menu, did you do that?

I have the same issue. You can either buy the game again, or just live with it.

I have just seen if I could purchase the same cars as the corrupted vehicles and it seems to work. I could therefore simply buy most cars again but I will not be able to purchase vehicles won that are not for sale?

This leads me to think that it is not the PS3 but the data itself, anyone any thoughts?

Can all cars won be purchased again? Veyron for example (probably bad example as may be in used dealership!)

Thanks

Unsure how this is done?

For a PS3 slim - eject game disc out, power down, Press and hold the power button until you hear three beeps which will take you to safe mode menu screen, first rebuild the hardrive, once that is done, power the PS3 down again, then press and hold power button again wait for 3 beeps again which puts you into the safe mode now you can rebuild your data base

For the PS3 phat I believe it's in the settings menu xmb

P.S. Occasionally you might hear 2 beeps instead of 3- power down and press till you hear 3 beeps

2 beeps =video reset
3 beeps= safe mode service menu

Yeah, i would rather at least try these suggestion before I send my PS3 off to servicing for 2 months- at least that what my sony service quoted me time wise, and of course who wants to be without GT5?not me! I had all the same problems as you did as well as many others here 5 months ago, I was so unhappy with my GT5/PS3 performance that I was ready to throw in towel, No game or machine is worth this amount of bulls!?@ ! By combing through the threads and reading the manual i was able to get PS3 running smoothly and faster, it runs like flawlessly like new again and now I happier than pig in sh** . Fact is GT5 is huge game ,10 gigs worth of install, if you play alot and i mean alot over time the install data will get corrupted and the database and hardrive will always have to be rebuilt, just like
running a hard disk defrag on your home computer- same thing.
I'm surprised Sony service didn't go thru the steps with you (one can only imagine why) Big corporations liken sony and apple don't like to admit to software/hardware problems publicly until they are certain it will cost them more if they don't.
