I'm not sure if a PC recognizes a PS3 formatted HDD. It may ask for a format beforehand. Just saying.

Sorry but the HDD is the same HDD that Notebooks uses. And you can use it with PC´s just like a normal HDD.
When my FAT broke, i removed it and it was (is because i have it here) a Seagate 60GB 5400rpm SATA. Then i bought a Slim PS3 and came with a Hitachi 120GB 5400rpm SATA. And finally i replaced it with a Toshiba 250GB HDD.
And guess how i saved all my "savedata" twice!! :dunce:

And for GTMotion. Yes,for movies works different and you need the same PS.(next time rent or buy boxed copies 👍)

Ive had the YLOD and RLOD 3 times on the old shape PS3. 60GBs-80GB (PAL) old shape were terrible!

It may be FAT data type but No PC OS or MAC OS can read it. That's why I said earlier it is locked down more than the CIA is.

So basically anyone who has a ps3 malfunction is just out of luck when it comes to gamesaves and data?

sorry for no reply but yes. Unless your a plus member or always save everything on a usb, it is gone for ever.
