Been discussed before with the same COD hate seen here.
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=178710

I like the idea of New Race+ but as long as you use a COD term people will hate it without really understanding it.

Where the hate comes from, is that people mostly say "Let's take this concept from CoD!" And for the most part, they have no idea that the CoD devs said the exact same thing about some earlier game and that's why the feature is there in the first place.

As someone else said, it's also similar to Ratchet and Clank. (What with being single player related.) I could say that it mimics as far back as New game+ in Chrono Trigger. But the Ratchet and Clank comparison makes more sense and would fit better. Difficulty goes up, AI is more aggressive, more restrictions, more laps, higher payouts, and you're able to re-win the prize cars.

I'd love to do some of the earlier tournaments again, even just some races with slower cars than LMP would be nice. But alas, I'm also trying to make money on the game at a decent rate to be able to buy and tune the cars I like. Before you say "Seasonals," I can't get online with my PS3 for now, otherwise I'd be eating them up.

So yes, I'd vote for a feature like this. I'd also vote for the seasonals being saved to your PS3 for offline use once they've initially been added.

Why not use the much better method where the hardest difficulty, best AI, and everything else is available from the beginning so the game isn't a trudge through bordem the first time you play it.

Because then it's much harder for beginners to pick it up. Plus, (as I said) if you want to back and re-race a cool event from the early selections, you have to give up any useful rewards and prizes.

I'm thinking like Borderlands (as the guy who mentioned Ratchet and clank also mentioned) when you beat the game, all the enemies scale up to in level and you're able enjoy the early areas with enemies of your own level.

No it would not be. They would just set it to easy.

I don't get what you mean in your second sentence. To redo races, you don't need to give up anything.

How about you just get to select the level of the enemies/cars so that everything is perfect for you all the time.

Then all PD needs to do is fix that problem instead of ignoring it like it's not there.

Rinse and Repeat mode? Since you do it all the time on GT5. Anyway I vote for something like that it would be nice too have harder AI and quicker times on the licences!

Simply calling this anything other than 'Prestige Mode' makes it sound better.

Agreed. I remember making the suggestion awhile back. Didn't have another potential name for it, and got plenty of COD hate. I don't even play COD.lol

Maybe if it was easier to level up or if there were more rewards it could work. Once you start a 'new season'(instead of 'prestige') of driving, maybe you could get a special reward and some sort of indicator next to your SN or something. There could be something to show how many 'new seasons' a player has done, etc.

I don't think leveling really matters. After level 20-something, you can buy any car and everyone has the x2010 now. Unless you really want to do the endurances, it becomes pointless.

I think something like "new game +" would be a better name than prestige.

No one said beat the game, just make it to level 40. I'm at level 38 and I haven't touched Endurance at all, and there are many Special Events I haven't completed. So it would be an incentive to those who already maxed their Level to get something else to do. Option to clear the all the victories and redo them, kind of like GT4's Special Events where you can clear the victories and win the prizes over again. I do wish that A Spec mode had selectable Ai difficulty, not sure why it doesn't have this, and why is it every time they tweak the AI it always makes them a little more cowardly whenever the human racer comes to close. It's not like they can't program the AI to only back off if they can't over take, but will just tuck back in quickly and try again when the opportunity presents itself.

When I say give up stuff, I mean that you have to give up decent winnings if you want to do an early race again. You get next to no money from the early races, sure it was fine when you started, but 10k credits is one installed racing exhaust.

Well, setting difficulty is alright I guess... just my personal preference that a feature like that be left out in favor of proper balancing. We want the races to be a challenge, but you don't want every single one to require multiple restarts due to difficulty do you?

I guess a difficulty setting is the best solution, but whatever. Nine out of Ten times, setting the difficulty higher turns things unfair. The AI are already cheap, even if they don't drive as fast as they could.

I don't really know what I'm going on about anymore. lol I guess I'd rather see PD try new things than stick with tradition. Then again, I guess if it works, do try and fix it, might as well stick with what has worked so far.

in turn resetting ALL of the events, including license events, etcetera, giving the player the chance to "re-win" all prize cars

Why not just let the player do that whenever they want like every other game in the series did from the start?
