I dont know if anyone else gets this but after the opening movie when the gt logo is on screen my game is stuck there for around 10th minutes. When I access gt life I get stuck permanently. I have it installed on harddrive and all my other games work fine. Its got to the point where ive almost smashed my ps3 to pieces.

My arcade mode has been freezing too, even without PSN connected. I takes me about 10 minutes for all of the cars to load, than another 3 minutes just to enter the track. :/

I have similar problem. When I exit to the main GT life screen from a race or any other menu. It gets stuck at the GT screen. This happens to me every time I play. How old is your PS3? My is probably 4 years old?

With 4 years, your PS3's are almost at the end of their lives, but that's not the problem. These are Connection problems. Simple as that. Try without logging into the PSN and you'll see how the game loads instantly.

Now this is something else. Arcade mode is never affected by connections once you're in. I have a new PS3 Slim and the game already gives problems if you fly around the 100 faves and hit the race, mostly getting stuck in the race loading screen with that aweful kids singing. If the cars aren't even loading, then something else is going on.

Ya, a lot of connection issues are stemmed from peoples' ISP. A lot of them "claim" the speeds, but none of them actually produce it.

I have 25Mbs connection but download the same speed as my buddy with 40Mbs. We tested it, took a file, the same file, and downloaded it. I was downloading at 2.5Mbs and he was getting 1.3. It was the same file from the same location, we also live in the same area.

Those advertised speeds mean nothing, you never get those speeds. To me, they are just marketing gimmicks.

I know this doesn't solve your problem per say, I was just hoping to shed some light to others with connection issues.

Time to go back to my £20 cheaper plan.

My service is nowhere near those numbers, but I've never had any problems unless there is something wrong with the PSN which rarely happens. I actually got this separate service exclusively for my PS3. The modem is hard-wired to the PS3 and it's only when I turn on the WiFi and my sister starts downloading stuff that I get stuck in the main menu or when booting up the game. I shut down the modem's Wifi function or sign out the PSN and the game instantly goes back to normal.

Just did a speed test and only got 8mb of my promised 60.

@ProjectS2K, your ISP could be the problem - check your NAT, it should have NAT2, by the way, you sent me a message about the Carbon R that I'd sent you days ago, it says upload failed, I've sent another to you, see if it come up fine.

I'm seriously tired of ISP's giving you BS over speeds. You know, when there's a margin of error of 52mb then you know there's a problem. Still, the speed should not the problem. You could run with 1mb or even less, and the game won't freeze if the whole bandwidth is going directly to your PS3 without any interruptions.

I think my brother was downloading stuff and my sis was on her laptop.

I cant even access gt community so I dont know if I can get the car.

Funny you should say that, as my broadband is with 3 (mobile broadband) fixed wifi connection (webcube cannot be hardwired) and at best I see 2mbps, although thats only with my phone's wifi and the pc wifi switched off. Usually the PS3 (320GB slim) hits 6-700kbps download speed. It's shocking. 3 claim speeds of upto 21mbps on some of there USB Dongles. Mine should do upto 7Mbps

I think we should sue

You should probably get on the phone to Virgin Media. Either that, or you're lucky enough to be in a bit of a dead spot where certain companies provide you with shambolic connections. Once you've ranted down the phone to Virgin, either get them to give you better internet or leave. Threatening to leave often gives you free stuff! :sly: But whatever you do - don't go to TalkTalk.

Also, clearing your cache, removing custom music etc. sometimes helps stop freezing.

P.S. - Nice to see another member from Hudds! 👍

You live in hudds too xD. My area(greenhead) seems to have good signal and all that technical stuff, ranting never works they say theyll give you it cheaper or whatever but the connections still 🤬 lol.

I have comcast and i actually get more MBPS then what i am actually paying for... I get about double and i am paying for the 2nd highest speed they offer....

But one thing you need to think about... If you live by a lot of people that have the same service.... Believe it or not they will actually cause the connection to slow... I used to have AT&T (aka the worst internet company ever) and for $65 i got 3.65 download and .51 upload... $10 more i get 50+ download and about 15-20 upload... And i actually have that speed... I am paying for 2nd highest speed

That's usually the case with cable internet; DSL, fiber optics, etc don't normally have this problem. I have a fiber optics line and it's never slow. Most of my neighbors have this as well and it's not a problem.

One thing with cable, it's shared, phone line connections aren't.

I too am a lucky one,i rang my isp to go up to adsl2 from adsl, and being more of a rural town than a small city, there are a limited number of slots at the exchange for adsl2.He tested my line speed from there and informed me i had a faster connection than most adsl2 customers in my area,I pay for 8 Mbps download and 0.8 Mbps upload,i actually get 9 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up.
Which has been confirmed by my own tests aswell.
(side note:us australians have 🤬 internet, especially in the more rural areas)

Yeah i love my internet but i wish the modems were more durable.. For instance kind of funny but my modem just died... Just got off the phone and they are coming out later today to put in a new modem... That's a company that cares about customer satisfaction...

I think u need to delete your game save does it do this on another acc

That's not really a solution. If he logged off the PSN and he's still getting stuck, then there might be something else going on. Maybe the disc is scratched or the PS3 is not reading the disc properly(which I don't think both are case). But it doesn't hurt trying.

I've never cleared the caché or deleted my game save since I got my new PS3 almost a year ago and everything runs fine unless there is a problem with the PSN or my connection. However, I don't know if the size of the game save could affect the game's performance at some point. Since I'm never over 80 cars and I usually delete all the suits(I only have 20), helmets(Only like 10), paint(around 50), photos(only 1), videos(none) and tracks(only 2) that I don't want, my game save has never been above the 800KB range. I don't know if the personal BGM also affects the game if there are too many songs. Of course, my save file is raising because of the meuseum cards, but I don't think it will be getting to a MB any time soon.

I don't know if this helps, but my old PS3 never showed any problems, especially with GT5. It just died without any warning.

+1 for not clearing cache. Before 2.07 I cleared it quite often, now I don't clear it at all. It seems to work nicer and smoother when it's not cleared, for me (and anyone else) anyways.

However, my save file is pretty big, approaching the 4mb mark. 1200 and something cars/paints (pretty much same amount of each), maybe about 100 items, 20 pics, 20-30 replays (which are only 1mb each). Everything I have is from progression, no trading duping anything, so my save file is clean.

Just to point out, by deleting data off your hard drive (save files, game data, whatever), it pushes anything new back further in the hard drive and causes slower reading times. Nothing ever "actually" deletes off a hard drive, it just compresses into a very tiny format that isn't visible, doesn't mean it's not there. So the more times someone deletes something, it's still using space, even without you seeing it.

Seeing that there isn't a disk defragmenter on the PS3, there is no way to clean the hard drive of unused/misplaced space.
