GT5 not working after 2.08 update......

Hi!!
I tried to update to 2.08, downloading went flawlessly however I got an error when trying to install the update. Unfortunately I didn't bother reading this error..... Now I think it is still on version 2.07.

When I start GT5 it shows a message saying that it is attempting to read from hdd. After clicking 'ok' it goes to black screen and just stays there until I quit the game.

I tried running without being connected to the Internet, problem still there.
With the Internet it wants to update to 2.08 BUT it then wants to download all 18 updates from scratch.

Is there a way that I can fix this without having to update from scratch? When I back up my saves does it also back up my DLC cars??
 
You'll probably have to do all of the updates. I can't say if a backup will save your DLC cars, but you shouldn't worry, because there's a re-download function in the PlayStation Store.

Oh, just to make everything clear, you should make backup, and that'll save the normal cars. You shouldn't worry to much about the DLC's... Well, because of the re-download...

Hope I didn't made it too unclear.
 
Understood you!! But heres a thing for you, so I backed up my save and then deleted game data. Then started the game and it worked! So I quit the game and copied over my save game. Suddenly I'm back to the same problem!! Blank screen after pressing ok on the accessing hdd screen. I guess I will just have to keep trying different ways until I find one that works!!

Maybe it is because your save game is from the newer version (2.07) of the game and is now incompatible since you have deleted your game data and brought your GT5 down to its original stock version (1.00)?
 
Same thing happened to me. I put files on usb then deleted everything and started a new game. I can play offline then I go to try and update and I get error every time about it being corrupted. And I deleted everything and started over and it still won't update.
 
Put PS3 into recovery mode & choose option 3.

I'm now stuck there too. Got an error when updating to 1.01 .......

I will try recovery mode. Didn't know ps3 had it! Learnt something new! Google here I come!
 
I've also read up about ps3 proxy.... Apparently you can download from a pc and then transfer it to the ps3. I'm not too sure how or if this works because I haven't tried it yet. So I don't even know where to download the updates from.
