Most of you will probably agree with me on this. Yes, the GT5 (and GT4) versions of the Nurburgring are pretty accurate and could arguably be called the best in the sim racing world. But, for me they just are not 100% there yet, especially when it comes to replicating the tree locations and size, the width of the track, and all the elevation changes.

Here's a great example. Watch the video below and you'll see what I mean:

I was there in real and I must say, that GT5 is almost perfect.
In real there are some points where it is so narrow, that barely 2 cars can be side-by-side.
Same goes for GT5.
PD did a superb job putting the "HeLL" in GT5.

I don´t get what you want from PD.
They slightly made the track easier at some points but I think it is just fine.

PS: I watched the 24h First Qualy and the vid above is someway iritating (compresed ??). It doesn´t look like the output off my TV.

Don't typically look for "tree locations and size" @ 180mph. Just me?

I don't either, but if you really look at the in-game version, and the way it looks in the above video, the main difference is the fact that the real version looks more "closed in". The trees sometimes come over the rails, etc. The environment just has a more claustrophobic feeling to it.

Somewhat accurate in my opinion.

.

I gotta agree. It's as perfect as one would expect. Hard to tell where it's not an exact replica.
There are a few side/by side video's out there and I can't tell the difference.

the nordschleife in gt5 is by far the best virtual version of it.

pd put the exact writing of the fans on the tarmac, the chippy in the "brünnchen" section is there (24h version, with the viewers and stuff).. nothing more to say :)

^holy 🤬 cant get much better than that!
If you can pause the top one on the first bend and wait for the other to start and play them at the same time!!! then you'll get my first coment!

The camera lens used in that OP video is whacky. It makes all the turns seem really tight. The zonda video (and almost every other video i've seen) is much closer to the game's perspective, and i assume real life perspective.

Regarding trees...they grow. If they aren't tall enough for you, perhaps you should convince PD to program in seasons with growing trees. Then you can stare at the trees for 24 hours straight to see if they grow an inch or change color...but actually seasons would be pretty bad@ss come to think of it. Nurburgring in the snow!

I don't give a 🤬 about the trees. I rag on people that complain about the cardboard cutout trees all the time. What I am saying is they seem fuller, more pronounced.....thicker. Get the picture?

The whole point of this conversation was to say that the real 'Ring looks more closed in. Claustrophobic if you will... Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm not gonna lie, it's not perfect, it's pretty close though (and far, far better than Need for Speed) and if honest, the track can be a pain to race, just how it should be :P. It's a tough track, with many places to end off in a wall with, and I think it's a pretty good representation.

Yeah, it's my favorite track in the game - Suzuki a close second (wish we had Spa though) - I actually enjoyed the 4 hour Nordschleife endurance race : )

WOW, I had no idea how close GT5 got.

WOW. I realize there's an element of 'Forza vs GT5' or other complaining going on, but damn GT5 is fundamentally superior in some ways that no one else is matching at this point. It's also got plenty of flaws, but damn is this topic not one of them.

I am sure the trees are not in the perfect places, but just imagine how picky that is? Imagine if they had somehow recorded every plant in 100 mile radius of this racetrack, perfectly. One year later, someone would complain they didn't update the plants for changes. This is one of those things that is completely not a factor when you're at speed.

I dunno. I think this track alone is worth $60.

It's probably the closest representation you can get on a console and definately the best on the PS3.

Regarding trees, when your heading at 100+ MPH toward a barrier are you going to notice a slightly overgrown tree?

I see what you are saying about the claustrophobic -- real ring reminds me of "Legend of Sleepy Hollow." :)

Might be the season, as well? I would expect the trees, etc., to be thicker in high summer.

But I'm sure you agree the track itself is awesome.

@R1600Turbo:
I know what you want to say after I watched the Zonda Video from above.
At some points there is a "Tree-Tunnel" which is not "acuratly" represented in GT5.
But as MM1000 said, it´s a bt picky.
Maybe it would be possible for a PC-sim.

But you admitted it too. GT5´s version is by faaaaaaar the best Gaming HeLL (even GT4´s version was damn close)

Interesting that the game car gets a little out front early on and then the real car comes back faster midway through and finishes a little ahead.

Fun to watch these side by side :)

I believe The track is really superb! Yet i agree that there could have been more and bigger trees..

The ring<3

I'm going there again on the 7th July for our groups annual trip. I'll check to see if the trees have grown more than last year lol
