Hey guys! I don't personally own a 3DS at the moment, but here's my question: can the 3D pictures taken on GT5's photo mode be viewed on the 3DS's screen? I think it would be an awesome way to show off GT5's 3D to your Xbox-owning friends without having to haul around a £700 tv, your PS3 and a generator to power them all XD

Currently I don't believe you can export the 3D pictures taken in GT5. I imagine if you could export them to XMB and copy them off your PS3, then it shouldn't be a problem.

You can if you're playing in 3D on a 3DTV, they export in MPO format I believe.

However the 3DS uses a totallly differnet kind of tecnology to ceate 3d images so no, they wouldn't work even if you could get them on there,

IF GT5 exports in MPO then YES. You can view them on the 3DS.

I can view screenshots taken of games on my PC (MPO) on the 3DS just fine. Likewise with my 3D camera which is MPO aswell.

They all work just fine in 3D. You just cant zoom in.

First of all (problem) you need a 3DTV to make a 3D photos, then, of cource you can watch them on anything you want...(I personally use cheap anaglyph glasses to watch those photos)

Oh, I didn't know you needed a 3D TV to create the photos... that sucks :(

Maybe somebody should create a new thread called "Please PD..." and ask to let us create the photos without one. I don't know if I'd be able to stand another Please PD thread

Here's the part people keep overlooking. The technology employed by 3DS is totally, 100% different from and unrelated to those of 3DTV and GT5. 3DS would only be able to display them as a regular 3D photograph that would then require appropriate 3D glasses for viewing, rather than being able to display them the way 3DS displays 3D, since 3DS's 3D images are built differently.

As far as portables are concerned, i know for a fact that nothing done in photomode in 2 or 3d works on a factory spec psp...
Nor on the Wii.

Well, I have the 3D tv, and I think that if you can get it, it is a must have. It extremely enriches the playing experience and quality of the game.

I swear you that very soon we get a "3D photo converter" program that supports 3DS.

The 3DS pictures I take are in .mpo format. If the photomode pictures in GT5 is exported in .mpo to the PC, the 3DS can read it. But I'm not sure if pictures from the PC can be imported to the 3DS. I haven't tried it on my 3DS. I believe the 3DS uses the same 3D technology as others. It's just the specially designed screen that allows you to see 3D images without glasses.

They are not 'built' differently, its still two images that overlap each other to give the sense of depth. There are now TV's that utilize the same technology as the 3DS that offer 3D without glasses ( documentary here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/click_online/9379383.stm )
and you could play GT5 on these TV's so why would the pictures not display on th 3Ds ?

Put very simply, the tech breakthrough is putting tye lense material from 3d glasses across a screen, and allowing the screen to change the focus distances of the 3d image bits for more distances lense to eye than the standard of about half an inch or whatever, to account for the differing layouts of living rooms.

However, if the ds reads mpo and gt5 makes .mpo, it should be fine.

Really you man have a 3DTV? Can you provide a GT5 snapshots for us? It will be EXTREMELY interesting to watch! Please answer! :)
BTW: GT5 3D pictures ARE in .mpo format!

I'm going to be honest, i almost lol'd when i saw the title of the thread.

But for your question, the answer would be no as the 2 systems have different methods of producing 3d images.
