I've been getting some weird and annoying lag when racing online last night and today. Its not the players lagging but its me that is lagging on my screen. Has anybody else been experiening this problem lately as well? Is there any way i can fix this problem?

yes i have had somthing similar, its like every second the game stuters but regular enough to almost keep beat.

What to do:
Turn off PS3 so the red light is on.
Hold and keep holding the power button. The console will turn on, and eventually turn off again.
Once off, with the red light on again, press and hold the power button. You will hear one beep, another single beep after that, and then two beeps in a row. After the two beeps, let go of the power button so it doesn't turn off again and you'll end up in the system recovery menu. From here there are a few options. Now this is important, DO NOT CLICK ON 'RESTORE PS3'. That will wipe the HDD clean. You don't want that. :O
What you want is the other two options, 'restore ps3 database', takes about 5 minutes, and 'restore ps3 file system' (your bootup code, restoring is almost instant).

Once you have done these options you will notice your game loads much faster and you wont get that annoying frame skip, i hope this helps.

ok i will try that and let you know how it works out. thnx

i did what you said and im still lagging in online races :( its so frustrating :grumpy:

Lag is mostly due to poor connection speeds through to the server and players in the same room.
I have made huge improvements on my adsl2 modem speed by the following;

Phoned my internet provider helpline and requested that they turn off interleaving on my broadband connection.
The helpline guy asked if it was for purposes of online gaming and answered yes. He said it will be done within 2 minutes and reset the modem.
Ping went from 29ms to 17ms
Download went from 8.2Mbps to 14.5Mbps
Upload went from 0.79Mbps to 1.2Mbps

This all took 10 minutes from making the call to reboot of the modem and didn't cost a cent.

ISPs may not advise this if you are more than 5k from the nearest ISP network cabinet.

Also, a wireless modem connection is potentially a big lag maker. Best to have an Ethernet connection to the modem from your PS3

@ Spencer; thanks for sharing, great tip. Gonna try that soon. 👍
