So it's nearing Christmas and I'm bored as hell with my PS3. I was planning to get GT5, but Hot Pursuit arrived just weeks after GT5. Now I'm confused on which to get: A driving sim developed by one of the most respected developers in the world, filled with 1000 cars, state-of-the-art physics, mindblowing graphics, but apparently from what I keep on reading very unpolished and incomplete; or what is arguably the best NFS yet, with many kinds of modes, tons of exotic cars, 100 miles of free roam, Bugatti Veyrons in police livery, good enough graphics(but not as good as GT), and beating GT5 at Best Racing Game at E3?

I dunno what to get, I used to have games from both series, and I want both, but getting both would really be expensive.

Easy, if you like Arcade games, go with NFS. If you like simulations, go with GT5.

I don't like Arcade games, so GT5 is the obvious choice for me.

I have them both, and they both are amazing. NFS isn't quite in depth enough for me but the online competition is top of the line in racing games. Had several finishes with under a tenth of a second separation..good times

why or? should be "and"...

I tbh am not liking how at this time driving fans are split between these 2 games...all my friends IRL turned to GT5 and some of my online friends are all about NFS, but even they are wanting gt5 if they don't have it already.

For folks who likes using a wheel, NFS would be a poor choice. It's wheel support / wheel-physics is poor, which is not something to complain about because the game was meant to be played with a controller and not driven with a wheel.

Its wheel support is not poor - it just isnt supported at all.

If you like using a wheel with driving games than NFHP is not for you because it has no wheel support whatsoever.

but it as got much better reviews than GT5 and might be a very enjoyable game for those that like that type of thing (wich is not my case)

I myself am looking foward to Shift 2 very much

Objection.

Ea has been working on implementing Logitech Wheel support for a while, and now with that recent 1.01 update, it now does. But still you can't expect arcade racers now to be all that great with a wheel...

For quick fun go NFS. For long term gaming go GT5. Other than that they're pretty much equal in terms of how good they are, though GT5 does have some ongoing programming they are still working on (annoying enough that I returned the game within a week of getting it).

and if you need help with Hot Pursuit (i don't like calling it NFS), hit me up and I can help you. :sly:

I get that the driving won't be realistic, but I don't see how that means a wheel wouldn't make the game better.

Forza-GT comparison threads have a bad habit of getting out of hand very quickly. Now, I don't have a problem with an NFS-GT thread, but please be aware that the moderators will be keeping an eye on this thread in case trouble starts. Just stick to the AUP and there is no reason why this thread has to be closed - but if trouble rears its ugly head, the moderators won't hesitate to take action. So just be aware for now.

I'd argue stepping back and enjoying an arcade game would help you appreciate a sim even more. It certainly worked for me whilst I gave FM3 a rest.

Some people enjoy arcade racers with a wheel, go to an actual arcade and you'll know what I mean. The one catch however is that the level of precise steering in this game far surpasses those sega titles you see in arcades nowadays... so personally I don't see a thrill out of playing HP3 with a wheel...same goes for playing GT5 with a wing controller, it just wasn't designed with those peripherals in mind.
