GT5:P JPN version update

Hi guys, well like a lot of people ive had GT5:p since xmas or so on import from Japan.

in the last month or so i cant get to play online, each time i try theres a monster update that never gets more than 10% completed and seems to fail.

has anyone managed to progress past this point and get it to work? does ot give u race tune options like the US/EU version?

how can you tell? its just the standard blu ray from japan as far as i know!

sounds to me you have SPEC 1.

where do you live? cause for example in my country the internet provider has blocked the IP for downloading SPEC 2 update... after a while tho, we got a patch sent to us,that allowed us to download the update.

Yeah my JPN copy updated fine and it has the tuning once you download all the updates.

Are you on wifi or NAT3, you need NAT2 for stable connection. Try connecting your PS3 direct with a ethernet cable and when it quits the download go into News it should restart from where it stopped, or you can quit the game with the PS button when it fails and just restart the process and it should pick up where stopped. You might have to try 20-30 times. The latest updates worked first time for me but the early ones took hours with 10-20 restarts.
 
yikes!!

will give that trick a go! one time it got to say, 20% almost but then died and when i retarted it zeroes it but ill retry from news next time!

i connect via ethernet cable never use wireless!
 
Yes it goes to zero but PD even said somewhere that if leave it on and restart it does pick up in the background, so just keep trying and you'll eventually get it done and see more progress.👍
 
doh well ive just deleted and re-installing it now seeing if that can make a difference!

update downloading much faster now, lets hope its the big update not the one on xmas day that enabled online mode!!
 
1 download finished after numerous retrys. i suspect that is SPEC1.

but im havign exactly the same issue as in the OP now downloading the next update.

it does like 1 sliver of a bars worth of download and then error message as ive posted above again. really frustrating!

i have 60,000,000 credits too, and no real £££ so im reluctant to go out and spend £17.99 on an english version..
 
Keep trying! It took me 2 hours of CONSTANT retries to get the first JPN update, never mind SPEC II!

In the end, the bar got half way then jumped to the end, so I think it does actually resume where it left off, but it just doesn't look like it.

EDIT: I just put my JPN copy of GT5: Prologue in and it is asking me to update. I DO have SPEC II, so I wonder what this might be?!?!

Will stick my UK copy in after this is done and see if that also asks me to update.
