GT5 Possible Update ?

Wow all this talk of a possible update today sounds very exciting, there is also talk of a big update in multiplayer ?

Personally I would happily settle for a proper racing class system. The one big problem I've found with GT5 is that you just can't get a decent race online, everyone uses racing soft tyres (Arcade style). There is hardly anyone out there that seems to be interested in racing with sports hard tyres. which is far more realistic.

Track racing on street tires is completely UNrealistic.
 
If you want that much realism, go drive a real car.

Yar, but a lot of autocrossers use track day tires that are DOT legal to get them home after the race. To be honest, the closest thing to that would be the sport soft tires. At least, that's what I've found from looking in the "Best Tire Choice" thread where the fellow did a bunch of experiments. The track tires gave a Lexus IS300 a 1.00+ lateral G rating (as tested by tire rack) which is a lot higher than stock, and although the stock tires were obviously not fantastic, it's comparable to switching from comfort soft to sports soft.
 
I just hope we can still watch all the replays we've saved.

lots of racing leagues use street tyres. I agree the sports soft are realistic as track tyres. I just personally find racing softs far too grippy in a sim. and as for the person who said, "if you want it that real go out on a track" what's the point of playing a sim like GT5 if you're not going to use it as a proper racing simulator ?
 
I think the point being made is that the soft street tyres are basically race tyres and race tyres have unrealistic amounts of grip in order to make it more accessible.

In the racing events I have organised we usually limit tyres to sports soft or racing hard.

I totally agree with you Jambo, That's exactly the point I was making. Why does almost EVERYONE online use racing softs, if I wanted that sort of online experience I'd have bought need for fricken speed !!!

Not everyone. I usually set up my online races with Comfort tires.

Don't like the track/tire choices? Create your own room.

Problem solved.

In my league we have specific classes for each tire. Now I know that hard and soft are just shaved differently, but we do it different in my league example sports hard tires in my league consist of tires such as Potenza RE-11, Potenza RE070, Direzza Sport Z1 Star, ADVAN Neova AD07 The ADVAN Neova AD08, The Eagle F1 Supercar G: 2. Now if you want S2 you have to have Sports tires but the have to be at least 3times or 2 depending on the car the width of your stock tire. Now if you see cars that come with S3 the cars are Mines GTR HKS EVO and other highly tuned cars. A S3 tire in my league would be a Toyo R888 or a ADVAN A048, g-Force R1 etc.

Gran Turismo 5 was MADE to SIMULATE real life experiences without the NEED for real car driving.
 
I think they should shut down Multiplayer for a week and implement, test and install a new online system that revolves around match-making akin to Brotherhood which uses a very good ranking system IMHO with the Templar Grade Pyramid.

Besides, oncoming traffic kinda gets upset when I try to clip the inside curb, at 75mph, on a lefthand turn off Route 14, in a station wagon........XD
