GT5:Prologue not loading?

Good afternoon all,

Well about 30 mins ago I popped in GT5:P looking forward to using the G25 once again, but for some reason it doesn't load up :nervous:, well it does load the disc, but it stops on the introduction screen (where it says GT5:Prologue along with loading at the bottom). I've had only had one lucky go this morning, but only got as far as arcade mode. It took 10 mins to load!.

I did notice last night that it was dredfully (sp?) slow at loading screens, in particular when going into arcade mode and trying to load a track. It also crashed everytime I tried to access an online feature.

So as you can imagine i'm rather worried :nervous:.

So I kindly ask, do any of you have any idea towards what's going on?

If it's of any use, it's the Blu-Ray version (disk), and the disk is pretty much spotless.

There's probably online slowdown because of the update on the 1st August, but apart from that I don not know what the problem is.
 
It's most likely the Blu-ray drive. If you have the warranty send it to Sony. You can backup your files using a external HDD(Fat 32 file system format) and go to system settings. Backup the files just in case they give you a new one.

Thanks for the quick reply's.

Thing is every other game seems to work fine?, and it's since the update it's started happening.

But you could be right so i'll pop a few other games in and see if I have any issues.

Try backing up your save files and replays. Go to the management icon on the top in games and delete the GT5P file. Install and update.
 
If nothing else works you can always delete the game data, and reinstall it. You'll have to redownload the update(s), don't forget to backup your savegame before.
 
Sounds like the laser is on its way out if you ask me, either that or the disc might be damaged.

Have you left the disc in a hot or humid enviroment, or near a microwave, etc? These can damage the disc, even though it's not scratched!

Does it work in a friends PS3? If so, then its 110% not the disc, and it seems like your laser is about to kick the bucket, even if it doesn't do it with all games.

GT might just be one of the more difficult games to read, hence why it would be the first to stop reading.

As said, above, backup your save game, delete the GT install and save files from your PS3 and try it again. If that still doesn't sort it, and the game works flawlessly in your mates PS3, then its time for a new laser.

Or if under warranty, call Sony and get them to sort it.

I'll give re-installing it a go, and i'll get back to you.

Just one thing though, are there 2 lazer's in the PS3?, because I just ran Sunshine Blu-Ray and it seemed fine.

That's what I would try, and give sony a call just incase the drive is on it's way out.
 
I think just one. Also if you have replaced the HDD put the original HDD in if you are getting the PS3 replaced.

No mate you have to pay, you could sign up for that £5 a month (can't remember the name) and then send it in if the reinstall doesn't work.

I think I heard it was about out £70 but if you sign up to the link above you would only have to pay £2.49 and you only have to do it for one month.

lol, I'm just outside Menai Bridge.
 
Its £5 for the PS3, the PSP and PS2 is £2.49.

You have to read the fine text.

Hi, I've been a long time "lurker" here but am a first time poster.

I have been having a similar problem with my Blu-Ray version of GT5:P, and thought it best not to start a new thread.

Ever since I have updated my PS3 to firmware version 2.42, and then installed the update to GT5:P, I have been having problems with the game loading, especially any online aspects of the game. The game now takes a very long time (roughly 3 minutes) to load up from inserting the disc, seemingly being stuck on the loading introduction screen.

Once loaded up, the game behaves like normal in any non-online modes (such as arcade or events) and any races or loading pages work as normal. However, when I tried to view the GT-TV page, it would stop responding at the loading page, forcing me to quit the game. I have been having similar problems with the online mode itself, which would also freeze on most attempts. If the online mode did function correctly, after every single race completed there would be a 2-3 minute pause where there is a black screen and no sound, before the game took me back to the online menu once more, allowing me to start another race.

Just to verify, I have tested the PS3 to try and diagnose the problem. Other games (and their online modes) function as normal, and the disc of GT5:P does not have any noticeable scratches.

I don't know if these problems have been caused by the updates to my PS3 or to GT5:P, and thought it was worth checking it out here before I did anything, to see if you guys had any ideas. :)
 
It probably had more to do with the 2.42 firmware than your PS3 hardware.

Call SONY.

PS3's firmware update is very iffy. People are actually scared of doing firmware updates for the PS3 and the standard procedure to approach all PS3 firmware updates is to wait at least a week ~ SAD.

I did have this problem, its just gone now though, i tried the usual expected thing (reinstalling updates etc.) none of which worked. Then after 2-3 days it just seemed to fix itself, i don't know how or why but it did. It was the online aspects i had trouble with, but now it runs perfectly, just like it used to before the GT5P Update, not the ps3 firmware update that changed nothing in terms of loading times on GT5P. I'm using the blu-ray version by the way.
