Well - today I killed it, or GT5 did. I couldn't tell you exactly how it happened, all I know is, I'm doing a system rebuild, and will lose all of my data and gamer progress (lvl 27 on verge of 28 in A-Spec) - not to mention every other game I've played, song and picture I've stored on my PS3.

The game froze while I was uploading an event in B-Spec. It wouldn't respond to any input through the controller. Eventually, I tried to restart from the consul, but it wouldn't do that either (uh-oh). So I did a hard restart by disconnecting the power. If it wasn't dead before, it is now.

Anyway, I really never thought of backing up data before on a game consul (it has a HD - I guess I figured my data was being "backed up"). It's my own damn fault obviously and I'm not blaming Sony or PD or the gods. Of course, I've had computers go down - and know the pain of having to rebuild from scratch and now all my computer data is always backed up - I just never thought about backing up my PS3 before either.

Now the thought of playing through levels 1-27 just to get back is disheartening. . .the thought of not getting to level 40 and finishing the game is equally disheartening.

Take a lesson from me - back up your game data.

That sucks :nervous:

I would advise anybody to back up there data. I backed mine up on my jump drive and on an SD card (just in case)

Yep. Don't think it won't happen to you kids.

You can get a 2GB USB for like $5 - $10 just about anywhere. That'll cover ALL of your game saves. It's only a coupla button presses and just takes a few seconds to back stuff up.

Do it before you regret not doing it.

Same thing happened to me bro, "Hard disk Drive is corrupted, restore system files", nothing happened for about an hour, so i took the responsibilty of restoring my PS3 and deleting all data,(I couldn't acess the XMB screen so it was impossible to back up any data or format the drive!).

Now I have to send my system to Sony to hopefully trade-in for a new one, or see if they have a solution. luckly I have a PS3 protection plan so I dont have to fork out $150,but I guess it ain't so bad once I start again,I'll actually try to keep my cars,I happen to have a car-selling disease that causes me from keeping any bad even good prize cars that I could have used for many races, where I then buy all of my favorite cars that i can't even use:D!

And if you wanted to know my A & B spec levels, well here ya go!:sly:

A-spec: 25

B-spec:31

MERRY CHRISTMAS GT PLANET USERS!

And hope no one else has these problemo's:tup:

When your ps3 freezes/ ie stops responding to input...

Wait a couple of mins..

Eject the disc
Re-insert the disc

The ps3 should now reboot..

Never unplug the power, the HDD will stop spinning suddenly and ruin your data or even corrupt the HDD. 💡

A little late in this case, but others should know..
