GT5 Save Data Problems..

So I decided to get into Gran Turismo 5 this morning after not playing for a while, I had all the game data deleted except for my save data. When I launched the game it automatically started a new game, but when i exited to the Playstation menu my backup save still existed with all my cars + credits. I'm not on internet and have no way of getting back on it, is there a way I could get my PS3 to use the backup save as the main save? Thanks.

Copy the backup save over the main save file.

You could try re-copying it, but no guarantee, if it works.

Sometimes, games can load new savegames, if the old one is "broken"...

Could I get a guide on this? I don't have internet so no Playstation Plus, And there's nowhere else to copy it to than the Internet Storage.

Don't bother - not least because you can't do file copies like that on the PS3 Just delete the main save file. That's exactly what the backup file is there for.

Though I'd backup the backup first - to a USB drive or somesuch.

Deleted the main save file once again. Booted up the game, still made a brand new game. Backup Save with all my previous data is still on my system.

You Have 2 files GT Save Game & GT Save Game Backup

If you delete the Save Game & only have the Backup left over, when you load the game it will trigger a Load failed, but a backup was found error and give you the option to load the game from the backup. If you select yes it will load back all your cars and stuff, but if you select no it will make a day 1 save.

Have only your Backup with the Main Save Game deleted, load the game, & Are you presented with the "load Failed" error as the game is loading up?

No, I never got a load failed screen at all.

That is why you are not getting it loaded from the backup.

Go check your Game Data (Not the save game, but actual Game Data) Highlight GT5 and hit triangle then select "information" look for the Version, what is it?. It may be that the original non updated game does not load from the backup when one is found without a Save Game, it might not create a Backup at all. If your are on a old version or non updated version, you may need to update the game data before it will load from a backup when one is found with no save game.

If this is the case you need internet to update the game (bring the PS3 to a friends house) Load the game As soon as the game is updated exit the game right away, before it loads and delete the day 1 save and load GT5 up again, when your prompted to load from the backup, select yes.

No Prob, glad to help figure it out.

Just make sure when you finish updating, you exit before the game loads, as loading will trigger the game to create a new backup overwriting the one with all your stuff in it.
