GT5 Save files = protected?

I think I saw somewhere back when the game came out that the save files were protected, or not transferrable to another ps3. Is this still the case?

I recently got YLOD and got it fixed. I had backups but I'm also considering getting a ps3 slim and transferring data over to that. But will it work?

Yes it will my fat died from ylod but I backed up gt5 put it on and it worked. However you will lose all your photos and tracks. Also you will have to create a thumbnail for some of the cars because you will lose some of their images.
Edit: you can copy your photos and tracks manually to a USB but I couldn't because I sent mine to Sony and got a slim.
