GT5 should make damage like GRID

when I first played the GRID demo...I was really impressed! honestly more than impressed with the car damage....even the forza's damage won't get close on how GRID's damage looks...GT5 should do the same (well not really exactly the same) way as GRID made it or better.....

GT5 is a completely different game to GRID. It shouldn't have to resort to imitating it. If GT5 has damage, it should be done in the way Kaz envisions it, not Codemasters.

In relation to GT5 Vs Grid on the concept of damage (and not the question for damage in general), let me tell you, I do NOT want any damage like THAT in GT5.
Can you imagin driving a car, with a dent in the driver's door so big, he has to sit on the other seat to be able to drive? Is that realistic?

I hope Kaz watches some real life video's...and more then any other gaming developer did. Even going so far as to "stunt" a few car accidents.
And if he can't make it realistic (it seems GRID just skips a few steps in the damage system and that crashing a car looks more like a suicide bomber drove it, then it does like a crash.), then that he doesn't include it at all.

I downloaded and played the playable demo from GRID - nothing about that game feels real. The damage looks and feels ARCADISH, the response to the Driving Force GT steering wheel sucks canal water, and the response of the cars in a racedon't even feel as good as they were in TOCA Race Driver 2 or Forza, much less the response of the cars in GT4 or GT5. I will probably try it a couple of more times, but unless I become more impressed, I will wait for the full GT5 version, or I hope to see Test Drive Unlimited or Enthusia for the PS3. Until then, I might take a look at the latest NASCAR race game and continue my quest to reach 100,000 A-Spec points in GT4.

I hope, if and when, damage get's introduced into GT it's not just because of the "Wow, cool!" factor, but to keep people inline and from trying stupid moves on track.

Well, I have the demo, and i've been playing it alot, it's quite a challenge to win on extreme difficulty without damaging your car, where as in GT5::P, you may be out of the race by then, apart from this, the handling is very forgiving and not realistic. The performance of the WTCC BMW is weird, can it really do 160+ Mph?

GRID will also have a carreer mode and I reckon it will have better gameplay tha GT5::P, but it isn't realistic and KY should do damage the way he wants it.

I agree 110% Keep it real. Don't ruin a good thing.

Honestly, the first step in the damage equation should be good collision physics: the cars should respond realistically to contact, rather than the present "shunting" response. This would make contact both for the "bumper" & the "bumpee" much riskier & make racing more careful & realistic.

yea definatly add damage like there was in grid cuz there was nothing as fun as having some prick drive backwards on the track and hitting you causing you to DNF on the second lap of 7. how about no.

One thing I did like about grid was the way the suspension felt whenever the car went over bumps. When ever the car lands after a jump you can almost feel the car bottom out. I've never played a game that felt like that. Other than that I didn't care much for it or the damage. I'm glad they put the demo online, because before I played it I was excited about the game. Now I'm not even going to buy it.

The GRID demo was terrible, it's genuinely the worst Codemasters touring car game I've played.

And the damage isn't amazing. The damage modelling on Grand Theft Auto 4 is better.

true, but I dont think it was the "worst" Codemasters touring car game, I liked parts of it ( drifting ) and the other bits were ok, but if arcade games are for you then this game will suit you just fine.

The thing is I like arcade games - NFS, Ridge Racer, Outrun etc - but this game is neither one thing nor the other. And drifting is better in GT because the physics are so much better.

Theres nothing more I can say that hasn't been already stated.

I know, someone told me that. Judging by the way DIRT and GRID have turned out with loads of pointless disciplines, expect the F1 game to allow you to race Minis, snails, the Millenium Falcon, and time itself :yuck:
