Hi guys, really hoping somebody can help me out here.
I have had the original gt5 game since I moved from Ireland to Australia and as I do not have access to the internet in our apartment I have never been able to update the game. I bought GT5 Spec II yesterday as it comes pre loaded with the newer version. The game is much better but here is the problem.

My saved data has not carried over from the original gt5. When I go to the Playstation home screen I can see that the saved game is still there but it has now created a new save file for spec II. Is there anyway to fix this or do I have to go back and start again.

Any help would be appreciated

Since it is technically a completely different game, I believe you would have to start over completely :( sorry. I'd send you a few cars if I could.

But when you update the game online you dont lose your progress so why should it be different from using an updated disk?

Here is several threads about this and all says that your save game should work...But if you don't have any update on your old GT5 save then I don't know.

Well as I said I can still see the saved file in the playstation home screen so I would have thought there would be some way to load it up during the game

Maybe the save file and the new disc are two different regions? They need to come from the same place. It's a long shot but it's all I got.

I don't think the disc would work from a different region. I think Australia are PAL anyway.

👍 The disc's region and where you bought your PS3 are taken into account. Same for the DLC. I'm sure your PSN account's location matters too.

I had no problems with it working, although I did have to install it like you do when you first buy the game. I thought this was because it needed to wipe the old game to install the update

I have never set up a PSN account(well online anyway) as I dont have internet access in the building

Maybe since the updated disc uses different coding that the old one didn't

Ok, so lets day if you were to scratch your original gt5 disk and had to replace it with another. What would happen then?

It could be due to the spec 1 file is out of date compared to the spec 2.

The game you've just bought is a different region to the game you've been playing. Your gamesave will not work with it, only with discs of the same regions as your original gamesave (like GT5 Academy Edition).

Start a new account on the PS3 and start a new save on it. This will allow you to play without losing your progress from the previous game - though you won't be able to use this progress until you find a disc with the same original region at least you won't have to delete it.

Thanks Famine, and thanks for cleaning the thread
