Firstly let me say I love GT5 and check these boards regularly without posting. However today I feel the need to post after the 1.06 update.
I'm happy they are issuing these updates but I have some major problems still with this game that I wish they would fix.
Endurance races - Why oh why isn't there an option to save mid race? I will never ever get to play these unless they do. There is no way I am leaving my ps3 on for days just to finish one of these. Also it means I cannot use my ps3 for anything else whilst I finish the race. Imagine also what would happen if somebody turned off the ps3 whilst you weren't using it or there was a power cut. It is totally bizarre of PD to have the endurance races set as they are. In GTR2 on the PC you can save a race at any point you like and I loved this feature, being able to resume a race a few days later if I wanted to.
Music during races - why the heck isn't there an option to change the music volume in the pause menu during a race? Personally I like to have the music playing when offline. However if I join an online session and someone is saying something I cannot hear them cos of the music. This means I have to quit the lobby, go all the way back to settings and adjust the music volume there. This is a real ball ache for me, please fix it.
Custom championships - Is it not possible either offline or online to set up a race series? I'd love to be able to set up a season or something and set all the parameters myself, such as track selection, number of laps, permitted cars, points for winning etc. Again this is something that you can do in the GTR series of games on the PC.
Single player A-Spec - why oh why are there so few events compared to GT4? That game kept me playing for months, there were loads of challenges, manufacturer races etc. Why has GT5 cut back on these?
Online - how boring is this? Join a lobby, most times host never starts race, you end up doing lap after lap of free run and then people leave. For god's sake please make it more user friendly and welcoming. Again I wish there were championships or something you could join.
Clunky,slow menus - why does it take so long to go between screens? It is a real pain in the ass to go the various screens and back and takes way too long.
Replays - I know this has been addressed in the update but you still have to click on a driver name to switch between them. In GT4 all you had to do was move up and down on the d-pad to instantly view them. I loved watching replays this way and also there was no stupid overlays when wanting to switch to different cars, just full screen racing action unlike in GT5.
As I said I do love the GT games, for one thing GT5 has given me the 2 best versions of le Sarthe and Nurburgring on any game so far and they look amazing, and better still they have day/night and weather changes. So please PD keep the updates coming but please at least add the features I want.
