They probably aren't going to come anytime soon. If you have been under a very large rock for the past week you would know that japan has been devastated by a massive earthquake which was followed up with a major tsunami. Between the deaths, radiation leaks...etc, I find it a little emotionless and distasteful that the only thing that people want to know is if PD/Kaz is o.k. And when they can expect to see their updates.

They will come when they come. I think japan has a great deal of mourning and regrouping to do before some programmers get back to work on a game. Be thankful that you don't know the horrors our brothers and sisters in the east have gone through.

Amen to that. So much ruin & heartache. It's only a game.

👍

Updates will come eventually, but there are way more important things to worry about right now.

That's an ironic* username you have, but you are 100% right.

👍 Absolutely, I think that a lot of restructuring and rebuilding has to go through before we start to worry about something as small as GT5 (in comparison with the 'quake). I'm more than certain that GT5 updates and so on will be back to normal in no time, however it will be long before we see our friends in Japan return to their normal state of life.

Thread is a duplicate, this is being discussed in other threads.

Well said HD 👍

With that being said:

Thank you ! RT @jcynavarro: @Kaz_Yamauchi Your life at this time is more important than GT5, no matter how much we love the game. Please...

Well said, I haven't been on GTP for the last day or so as people moaning about how they won't get updates have made me so angry. Seriously how can people moan that they won't get updates, have they seen the news, I just feel for Japan as a country and for all they people who have been affected by this disaster.

Good post HD. Terrible what they are going thru.

A bit of a cheek isn't it.
Disaster of gigantic proportions, peoples lives a misery, living day to day not knowing what's to come.

Japan has had terrible troubles too.

Light hearted joke.

Only worrying about the consequences the worst tragedy to strike Japan since WW2 has got on the development of our beloved videogame is indeed beyond shallow and with a nuclear disaster now looming (which hopefully can somehow be avoided) it isn't even time yet to count their losses.
It goes without saying a videogame is trivial (and that's a huge understatement) in comparison.

Having said that, as soon as daily life will start to go back to "normal" in those cities and areas not directly affected or suffered relatively low damage (like Tokyo seems to have done) most businesses will continue doing what they were doing before (hopefully sooner than later, not for us but for them obviously).
PD is in the business of making videogames, they won't suddenly be able to take part in rebuilding the infrastructure, etc. even if they would like to be.
Just as it's logical that Toyota, Nissan, Honda, etc. will start building cars and Sony, Kenwood, etc. will keep building electronics again as soon as they can, PD will continue development of videogames as soon as they can, not just because they feel that's "appropriate" or not in these circumstances but because it's their livelihood.

It's still too soon (with the aforementioned nuclear threat and uncertain amount of total human loss and damage done) to make any predictions about any consequences for anything, we can only express our condolences to the Japanese people as a whole and hope the worst has already happened.

It is terrible about what happened and very distasteful that some people only care when the next update will be.

However PD is stationed in Tokyo and from what I've seen/heard Tokyo didn't get hit very hard. I'm sure they are already back working.

Even though Japan is far away, the pictures, news and videos we see from Japan hurts my heart, I really feel so bad!

Who the hell cares about updates? Fck that, this country needs help immediately...

Wait, I just had an idea.
It's similar to the DLC idea, but its something that we can directly suggest to a very powerful person. :)
What if Jordan raised the price for GTPlanet Platinum or Premium, the one you have to lay for, just a bit?
The difference would go to relief efforts in Japan.
It wouldn't be much, but it's still something.
Jordan could also replace those eBay adds for stealth cars with a donation ad for Japan.

Would that be possible.
I know it wouldn't be much, but that could:
1) Attract more people to purchase GTPlanet Premium/Platinum (forgot which is which :))
2) Help Japan just a little bit, you know the ideas, every little bit counts.

Yes, but if you entire country would be ruined except your house and working place, would you go back to work in a day?

This 👍

My best wishes for eveyone in Japan :)

www.derspiegel.de (a usually very trustworthy source, they didn't update their English site yet, tho) just updated their news as experts are saying that the wind direction is about to change - towards Tokyo, with rain being predicted for tomorrow. And _THAT_ is the worst case - not only will the fallout make it's way towards one of the most inhabited metropolitan areas of the world, it will probably come down to the ground due to the rain.

Agreed. When hurricane katrina hit Louisiana, things kinda just went to an abrupt stop for a while in the state but everywhere else in the country, things kept going forward. Same thing happened when we had the massive oil rig explosion.

It's only a matter of time till everyone gets back onto their feet and go back into their everyday lives. It's only those idiots that come on here that moan about "WHERE IS OUR UPDATE>!?!>!>@!" junk.

Can I get a comment on this. I'm considering PMing Jordan with this idea.

I think that donating to the American Red Cross would be a better alternative. Not sure what Jordan has up his sleeves for this disaster but the ARC donations would seem like a more streamlined option for donations.

As far as Japanese themed DLC, maybe down the road. I am almost positive that there are going to be more than a few disaster relief programs that are going to spring up in e near future. I wouldn't be surprised if the PSN came up with a few purchases where the proceeds will be sent to japan.

In short, chill on hitting up everyone for updates.
A new B-spec: ride in your friends car and tell them to pace up/down...etc.
C-spec: get up from your computer, go for a drive and remember what it is about driving that makes you love GT5!

Edit: this wasn't aimed at you gogatrs

I like this, but most of all i like the idea of getting rid of the stealth eBay ads. Replacing them with the red cross' phone number & site would be a much better use of space. However, i don't believe Jordan has supreme control of all ads on GTP. Correct me if i'm wrong, but hasn't he said previously that he can't simply delete ads?
