Since the Psn outage I've found myself looking up GT Planet and viewing forums more than I've been actually playing the game. This may be because I've just finished all races I can do without getting the Psn back (6 bobs online and I need an FGT). I haven't done the 24hr endurences and I've not begun the gring for level 40 A-spec (don't plan on "grinding", playing the game will do me). Guess I'm just at a mid-point in the game. So anyone else find themselves with the same issue?

Nope, this is the perfect time to do some 'dirty work' on GT5 i.e.

earning cash to pay for chassis / engine rebuilds on expensive cars
improving or finishing your car collection
course maker
finishing or 'bettering' your positions on any licenses or special events
going through your garage doing oil changes on cars, where needed
preparing new cars for race series I'm already competing in
doing research / testing for new race series

Probably more aswell, but they're more than enough to keep me busy - I'm loving the PSN outage, got loads of time to do all the above so when the PSN is back, I can just 'play' and race and won't have to worry about the above.

Nice one anonymous 👍

I'm in 61% completion and am bored with GT5. I'm playing Need For Speed HP3 over, that has NO lack of events.

Yeah but almost every is boring lol JK anyway I have been catching up on some R&R and when PSN is back up I'll probably go back in the online series and enjoy some close racing with a few friends.

Yeah since PSN went down I've completed the Gran Turismo rally and improved my licences from
Gold - 20
Silver - 24
Bronze -16
To
Gold - 30
Silver - 30
Bronze - 0
None of which would I otherwise of done.

Really? Driving a Bugatti Veyron at 200mph with some cops right behind you in an open world? Fun.

You forgot one.. bolstering your lacking B spec team by getting up to level 21 on your good driver then grinding the hell out of Indy on Like the Wind and now the Dream car championship.. went from toontown level 16 and level 0 driver to a level 21 and 5 level 17s inside 3 days on 2 hours gameplay each day.. WOOT

Nope - OP said he couldn't do B spec as his Bob's couldn't be used as they were stuck online.

So I only listed non B spec things I've been doing. :sly:

Thanks to the outage I have 60 gold license trophys and over 1250 cars.

Had 4 bobs offline!!! Did the sarthe 24 hr b spec race about 3 times!

I am also tuning everything that could be remotely fast!

Better watch out when psn gets fixed I'm gonna be supernatural! Big headed astronaut!

Ohh i missed that.. can you fire them and replace them while theyre online and get new ones? Im kind of new to B spec here 4 of my level 17s are new this week.. one of them was even a new addition this morning.. (like the wind levels em up 10 levels in one shot.. unlocked the dream car championship.. lemme just say 0 to 17 in 5 races.. im pretty damn happy i never go to trade off that 4th X1.. i acquired it with 3 others in a nice trade deal.. traded off the other 3, but something told me to hang onto this one.. so i did.. i would have regretted it dearly if i had gotten rid of it)

Yeah except it's more like driving a tonka truck at 200mph in a game that's about driving that doesn't support a steering wheel o_0. Not fun.

This. I've spent something like 25 million on cars that I bought for my online racing while PSN was down (and its still going to take several million to finish setting up some of the ones I bought and didn't immediately switch to). And I also took the time to finally sit down and do the licence tests that I kept putting off.

I also have spent a good amount of time tuning LSD settings.

I'm assuming you haven't played NFSHP3?

ive been running hot laps for fun and grinding so i can buy collectable cars i see in the UCD. Luckily, I have one bob that is offline and an X2010 to do my endurance races haha.

I've done oil changes on all my cars anyway, I'm not in the weakly race series and I guess I'll go to work on collecting cars, I gotten gold on all licences and specials, so can't go doing that, endurences hear I come.

What a great attitude, refreshing to see.

Yep, doing this aswell now too. This break from PSN has given me time to test and understand LSD settings a bit better, so I now need to apply this to the cars I use in the race series I'm in - which is ALOT of cars as I like to use as much variety as possible.

Don't rush yourselves Sony....make sure you test and re-test everything, no panic, take your time :D

Check the Online racing subsection for any possible events, races, championships or series you might be interested in. GT5 becomes so much better when you find a well organised, fair, equal and clean bit of racing, with a variety of competitive cars.

Highly recommended.

Also, keep stocking up on any car(s) from the Used Dealership that might have potential, there's some superb cars in there and alot of surprises too.

M3 GTR and Lotus Esprit 350 are very good for road car racing, especially sub 500bhp series. Shelby series 1 S/C is a real dark horse too, very competitive.

Some of the GT300's and Touring cars are very good for low PP events too i.e. Amemiya RX7, Wedsport Celica, Superautobacs MR-S, ARTA, CUSCO Scooby, S2000 LM etc etc

What a great attitude, refreshing to see.

Thank you :D

I've been trying to finish golding everything. I'm waiting for the so called "save mid championship" and hopefully "save endurance races" update so I can finish A-spec.

Sorry PD and Sony I will not leave my system on while I'm not playing it.

I've been time trailing mostly on GT5.
Since I spend most of my time at work GTP is loaded up almost all day everyday except Mon and Tues.
This site definitely gets more of my attention than GT does.

Totally agree with all the following comments. Getting my grind on at Indy is giving me $1M per 40 minutes of racing and I've nearly gone up a level with all the grinding alone and every 10 races I'm at Indy, I do a chassis/engine rebuild for $80k and my ACR is running like new for more grinding. I've built atleast 20 different cars and finding out the limits of cars that I normally wouldn't have touched and every 3 or 4 races I'm in the UCD looking for those low km specials to give myself that extra couple of more hp for my cars that I tune up. That's without the other 30 or 40 cars I've bought and put into storage.

I've also worked out for every normal car I need around $300k to rebuild/repair and fully tune each car, and jack up the cost if it's a special car. I even saved enough to do a chassis and engine rebuild for my Veyron and broke it in finally and I'm doing B-spec even though I dislike it, I can just get it out of the way and use it to break in my cars that need to be broken in.

Same problem OP, I've been lurking without signing on here.

There's lots I can do but I can't test cars to their fullest potential because I don't have a steering wheel, should I invest in the DFGT before PSN is back up?

I was always a pad user, untill 3 months into playing GT5, I wanted to improve the "experience", and so I bought a DFGT, best decision I ever made with regard to Gran Turismo. It's just so much more fun. Of course you need somewhere to put the wheel.... I built a timber stand, weighs a "tone". My times are deffinitely faster with the wheel!! Its up to you whether you get the wheel or not....... 💡
