I think in all the disappointment over standard cars, people are forgetting that GT3 had just over 150 cars (mainly due to the amount of time spent developing the game on the new PS2 console). Yet despite the low car count, GT3 was probably the most revolutionary and well-received Gran Turismo game until now. GT5 is in the same boat, and manages to have 200 premium cars, which is more than what we got in GT3. I'm guessing that GT6 will do the same thing that GT4 did. Refine the game and pump up the car and track count.

And hopefully for GT6, we'll see:

1. More muscle cars.
2. Not as many minor variations in Japanese tuner cars.
3. More customization.
4. Bring back the Test Course!{The original}
5. Fixing the muscle cars' gear ratios and giving them some variety so they're not all as slow as molasses in the middle of January.
6. Even more tuning options..........why not have an N/A car with N/A tuning and a supercharger, for example?
7. More classic cars in general.
8. And I hope that we don't any more nasty-ass delays.

Well, I guess that settles it.........Hope to see GT6 by 2013/14 or so. ;)

I think the only revolutionary was GT1, the others, even GT5 are the exactly the same game, structure/carrer/etc (thank GOD), with new features and with new technology(graphics/console/etc).

I was thinking about this before. The pattern has been, revolution (GT1, GT3) then content and features (GT2, GT4). In GT5 they are attempting to give us both, the simple trade off is that they have to use updated versions of GT4 photomode models for most of the cars so that they could bring us the sheer content.

I really hope GT6 has more premium cars than standard. Not just the new cars they add, they have to keep re-doing the current cars too.

Also want to point out that while GT3 wasn't as well received as the other games and is generally considered the weakest in the series, it is the best selling, at 14.8 million copies.

Wait, what? The test course is gone? Are you saying you cannot trap 'top speed', '0-60', nor 'standing 1/4 and half miles'? From what I am understanding, the huge oval is gone...

We actually don't know that. We've seen about 48 race tracks so far though (this not counting their reverse versions, and variations in weather/day cycles) and the test course is not one of them.

Its easy to say that everyone knows GT6 will have double or triple the premium cars. Bit pointless thread IMO.

Just one thing though...
How long did you wait for GT3 to come and how long for GT5.👎

It took less time but you're looking at GT as if they focus only on cars during development. GT5 not only has more content than any other GT, it has more content than any other racing game. But doesn't mean that they just spent time modeling cars. They spent time creating a dynamic weather system, day/night cycles, a robust online system ect. GT5 is by far the biggest evolution a game in the series has ever seen.

Heh, good argument. But I'll only say that to myself if I hadn't any other game to play on my PS3. Plus there were hella many versions of GT3 .. Is it ?

Comparing GT5 with GT3, GT5 is definitely a big step forward even though Kaz said the PS3 can't handle what's inside his mind. We don't even know what does this man planned to do.

I'm wondering why can't the PS3 handle full GT5 .. let's say if Sony released an upgraded version of PS3 (double the processor speed and all that stuff) .. Is it possible ? And why not ?

You mean GT5 to have 200 or a little more Premium cars. There isnt 300 premium cars.

You are right, my mistake. :dunce:

Either way, pointless thread.

We all know GT6 will use same game engine of GT5 and will double or triple the amount of Premium cars.

It took so long for GT5's premium cars that they are future proof for next gen gaming for PS4 and GT6.

ALso I hope GT6 comes out on PS4. No need to have two GT games on same console that is becoming old. We need more power for GT6.

Developers like Kaz usually have stuff in their head that won't be possible for years. I doubt even the next PS will be able to really capture what he wants to do with the series. As he said, every piece of hardware has its limitations. So when you've got a guy that wants to replicate races, it's going to take a long time for there to be any hardware that's truly capable of doing that.

I agree. I just hope that GT6 will have something like 4x anti aliasing . I dont care if it looks the same or similar to GT5 once they introduce some sort of anti aliasing.

GT5 does have 4xAA when you play in 720p. It drops to 2xAA when playing in 1080p. It's been that way since Prologue.

Sure it does. Thats why it looks like its got no AA enabled and full of jaggies on my 1080P tv even when its @ 720P:banghead:. If 4x AA looked that bad on PC games then I wouldnt have used it.

I would hope that for GT6 PD take some more of the best loved 'standard' model cars and upgrade them to premium, much like what they have done with GT5.

GT6 should have all premium cars, some from GT4, all from GT5 and new totally new ones. I'm also hoping for non gimped features where you can only use certain things here and there (counting a track with rain as another 'layout' is a very lame way of boosting the variation count!).

It also needs a livery editor and more customisation in my opinion. So many racing games now focus on the personalisation element. I'm also hoping GT6 is not on PS3 because KY has already said he has done all he can do with the current system. The first GT on every new system seems to always be the 'trial' game, like GT1 and GT3 was.

Robin.

Im sorry but I find that very hard to believe especially with all those jaggies on my 40" TV. Maybe it will look better on my 24" 1080P computer monitor.

You can't get rid of jaggies with 4xAA, you need a lot more than that. GT5 is also a game that has a lot of very bright sections due to it being sunny, and that lighting style causes jaggies to stand out more. I'm sure that when you race on night races you'll find the jaggies to be barely visible.

If PD follows the same pattern, GT6 will be on the PS3. Just like GT2 on PS1 and GT4 on PS2. All that time invested in the game engine allows for 2 games.

I guess they'll work on some refinements, add more premium cars, and some new features, albeit not much. If we are lucky enough, GT6 could include Porsches! :dopey:

Peace

no need for a GT2 or 3 style game with the ps3, we all have harddrives now, new cars featers and tracks can be made available thru DLC. The only real reason they would need to make a "new" game on the ps3 is if they change the engine, witch given the time gt5 has taken seams doubtfull to me.

I hope we dont have to wait till the ps4 system is half or 3/4 dead before we get gt6.

Sure, they could sell us all those additional cars and some extra tracks as DLC. However if they do that, those of us who want it all will end up paying a lot more for it than we would for GT6.

Tell it to every sports game publisher, ever. And Activision. All the recent COD games have been in the same engine. Just like all the Guitar Hero games they pumped out. I hope they just put tracks and cars on DLC eventually, but it's far from guaranteed.

If your point of reference is PC games, then you're obviously going to be disappointed. In the graphics card wars, AA was a hot topic of contest. Thus both the Red and Green teams (ignoring the others...) came up with proprietary / bespoke AA methods to try to beat the other team. With that, the graphics hardware ballooned in order to support these features.

What you're seeing on PC these days is rarely anything lower than 8x AA, even if you only select "2x" in the options, because of the way the hardware and techniques have evolved.

Now, that tasty new MLAA method is making its way over to the PC as well, and freeing up all that parallel hardware for other stuff. Funny how it took a console game to properly demonstrate its potential (not to mention iron out the quality issues) before the big brutes took any notice :p
I remember being jealous of the range of effects that the original Playstation could evoke, compared to PC graphics hardware of the time, which were competing over "image quality", I believe...

I'm hoping that what hasn't yet been spoiled by these "leaked" videos will still impress us all when we see GT5 for ourselves - namely the online stuff.

do people realize that gt3 was the last true gt game to come out ?? and that was back in 2001 .. so its been over 9 years since a main gt game was release .... and no i dont count gt4 . cause that game was nothing more but a **Expansion Pack* :yuck::crazy:
