Don't know if it has already been posted because the video is almost a year old but this is something nice to see. The guy who made this video races a Miata in real life and also plays GT5. He compared his laps and the time was almost identical.

That is quite excellent, shame Laguna isn't up to the standard of monza or tsukuba.

Isn't it GT4 in the video?

EDIT: Nope, it is GT5.

EDIT2: Probably the worlds most useless post.

to be fair in a lo res video like that the two versions would be literally identical.

in a low res video like that, even the real life video looked like fake also lol

We would all love GT5 to have all Premium content. I wish SONY was made of money like Microsoft, and could afford to hire 300 more people to work on Gran Turismo, as M$ did with the Forza series. But we don't have wishes or magic wands, SONY isn't made of money, and too many people here act like they live in a world in which the opposite is true. This dead horse is dead.

Now maybe with the millions in profit GT5 generated for SONY, they can afford to fund more hiring for PD, but that remains to be seen. In the meantime, I'm going to be adding to my dozens of runs on Laguna Seca, and Trial Mountain, and Apricot Hill, and Grand Valley, and all the other standard tracks, saving the Nurb for dessert. ;)

I think this argument is kind of untrue.

Sony is also another huge corporation, and perhaps makes most of its sales off of gaming after TVs. They can probably outspend Microsoft if they wanted to and not hurt too much in the bank.

Bullcrap, where do you get your information, Sony corp is rated several rungs below Microsoft and don't make anywhere as much money as you would think they do. Barely making profits, if you can call it that, they are losing money on most ventures. They already had a few CEO changes, and you must be dreaming if you think Sony can outspend MS, only Apple can do such a thing.

Gotta any real factual proof instead of "bullcrap"

and getting back to what really matters.

Only, GT5 isnt made by Sony but by Polyphonie Digital and Forza not made by Microsoft but by Turn10.

But it's Sony and M$ that financies the companies (I guess)

PD is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony. Turn 10 is financed I guess, but they are more or less owned by Microsoft.

Sony doesn't run Polyphony Digital.

PD operates quite autonomous away from their big financial backer, Sony doesn't really lead their first party developers as much as Microsoft do. Sony likes to give them the freedom to work and just provide support when it's needed. Kaz would be the one who decides when to bust out the employment papers, not Sony. But he got a large new studio a while after releasing GT5, I'm guessing even Kaz is feeling the lack of manpower now, hopefully he'll fill his new place with employees dedicated to putting out GT6..

While that's how Polyphony operated previously, things changed when the PS3 came out and SONY found themselves embroiled in a war. SONY let Kazunori know in 2008 that they expected GT PSP made for the PSP Go as a release game, when Kaz had insisted previously that it wait until GT5 was done. And SONY pushed 3D as standard on all Gran Turismo games in order to make their 3D Bravias more attractive to gamers.

There's a massive flaw in your argument there....you say
Now maybe with the millions in profit GT5 generated for SONY, they can afford to fund more hiring for PD
. So GT1, GT2, GT3, GT4 made no profits? Also seeing as the team is so small WHY ON EARTH did they overstep the mark with the Premium cars? The level of detail is ridiculously high and largely completely irrelevant, why did they waste precious time and limited resources farting about with the accuracy of the stitching on the bloody rear seats for gods sake? It's not about throwing money at PD, yes that's a dead horse. But it's all about resources management and in that PD failed miserably with GT5.

"Apricot Hill".....what? are you even playing the same game?

I do agree that PD had to cope with cretinous meddling from SONY prats. GT5 would have been better in 720p as well. That would have left performance overheads for improving the shadowing and dust/spray effects. Instead of the current ugly mess we have. Which IMO detracts from reality WAY more than a slightly less accurate interior.

Well, PD did increase their staff during GT5's development to about 150, although that's still small. Maybe with GT5's profit, they can increase that even more.

PD is really a company with no outside resources, so they really need more staff, especially if they're gonna be traveling around the world to see different cars and tracks. Just imagine a small team like PD, with no outside resource, having to resource everything around the world on their own. They don't make the best management decisions, but wow, are they talented.

It amazes me how this went from a video comparing times between real life and a game to comparing the money of Microsoft and Sony :P

Come on people :D

I thought Sony was worth more than Microsoft

Yeah, morally at least, because Sony doesn't have to bribe companies so that they get exclusive stuff like Microsoft does.
