Hey PD why don't you take a look at this game to copy the mk1 dashboard? Not bad for a little game!

Why dont they just have all premium cars in GT5?
Uhh, because putting huge details takes months just to complete a single premium car. Now multiply that by 1000.. :ouch:. Honestly I wish PD didn't bite off more than they could chew, I'd prefer less detailed cars if it meant that more than 800+ cars would have interior views.

Exactly! There is a whole bunch of cars that we can ger rid of!

Uhuh

Not really.
A experienced modeler can create a highly detailed car within a week for sure.
And if he is really fast it will be more like 2/3 days.

And yes, I do know what I'm talking about.
I'm a 3d modeler myself.

I'm sure that soon after release, Kaz mentioned that each premium car took a months worth of hours to create. I think that was all in though, not just graphics.

811 Standard Cars * 40 hours = 32,440 man hours, approximating veryferry's one car per week for an average 3d modeler.

There are 2080 hours in a 52 week 5-day work week year.
15.6 years for one person.

Devote 10 modelers to this. It goes down to 1.56 years (569 Days)

Let's do the 3 day per car math.

811 Standard Cars * 24 hours = 19,464 man hours / 2080.

9.36 years for one person.

Devote 10 modelers to this. .94 years (343 days)

Don't really have a point, just felt like posting some math.

Then you have to add in the time it takes to actually get the car, so you can photograf it, find out how light reflects off of different angles, and then scan the model into a computer. PD is not exactly a huge company. They have a limited amount of 3D artists.

What's the name of the game though? Looks interesting.

GTi Edition 35

It's very simple. You start with the 35 edition GTI racing against one of each generation of GTi, one at a time.

Kaz said some were (can't remember in what interview) it takes approximately a month for one modeler to model a Premium.

So that bring´s it up to atleast 3.6 years :)
