GT5 wont load after updates

In an attempt to be able to play online I updated my PS3 as well as GT5 (that 600MB update), but after doing so the game gives me this error.

Insufficient free space on Hard Drive (HDD). At least 32MB required. Please exit the game and free up some space.

I did manage to backup my saved game files thanks to the GT5 update, but now my worry is that if I delete the game or format the PS3, will the saved game file work on a non updated system and non updated GT5 once I reload it? Any help much appreciated!

I had to log out and back in and now mine runs.
 
Apologies I should have posted all this in the questions and answers section. I have been reading up about this problem and it seems I am not alone, but some of the threads on it get really technical and i don't follow what is being said.

Someone said if I delete the game and reinstall and then update to version 1.05 the problem will be fixed but is this going to be possible since I backed up my saved game only after I had installed v1.06?

Since installing the update I haven't been able to get into the game so I haven't played the game at all in v1.06 I've never been able to select "Community" or "Museum". I'm just worried that my saved game is now useless. I'm on level 23 in A-spec.

My saved game folder is BCES00569-GAME. Total it shows 388KB and the GT5.O file shows 312KB if that helps?
 
I deleted the game data and loaded the preinstall files again. All fixed.
