GT5 woun't work.

This hasn't happened to me, however my friend had to quit playing because the game wouldn't work. Everytime he would go to the main menu, music would stop and have the GT logo in the middle of the screen. Has anyone heard of this happening? If so, how does he fix it. Does he need to update the ps3 or get a new one?

What is going on???
 
Has he tried disabling his PS3's internet connection and I don't mean PSN, I mean in Network Settings in settings.
 
No i haven't asked him that. he told me that the game would not let him advance when he got passed the main screen (not the GT Life), the music would stop and then when he tried to advance to another screen it would freeze and have the logo in the middle of the screen.

Well tell him to do that because it often fixes it. Also ask him if he has any scratches on the disc. Clearing the cache in game also helps. Do this from the options menu and scroll down to the bottom and it's in Network.

Okay. WIll do. I sugested that it might be the disc or the system. if it turns out to be none of these things, then what?
 
Happened to one of my friends too, but he said to me sometimes it works just fine, and sometimes it does this

This whole thing happens to me about 2 of 3 times when at my moms place, never happens at my dads place where there's better connection.. I think that's the problem, the menus and all online things displayed in menus (mainly the gt news and gt tv) for some reason MUST be loaded, and when your PS3 is trying to download the data and find out there's bad connection it will keep trying to download it instead of loading the game. Really hoping PD will do what they can to change this (maybe make gt news and gt tv an on/off thing?)
 
If it's not a poor connection then custom soundtracks can cause all sorts of problems, so maybe that could be case here.
