...and the not so good:

My original GT 5 disc cracked in the center and would not work anymore, so I installed the XL disc last night (our local WalMart had both the original for $20 and the XL for $39, and as I had no DLC I went with the XL).

Good: no lose of game save data; no need to reinstall anything, all I had to do was get the last update that I had missed (04).

The not so good: the DLC voucher is for very specific things: Car Packs 1 and 2, Track Pack 1, paint pack and suite pack, with a claimed $21.95 USD value. I was hoping that it would be more like a credit you could use in the store to pick what DLC you wanted as I would have preferred Car Pack 3 over 2, and not taken the paint and suites. This also means if you already had these DLC's and used the XL disc, you end up with the same stuff again. the voucher is valid till December 31, 2014, so I guess that is when GT 6 will be out :D

Also ended up with a second Kart 120 and a refurbish ticket specific to the 120 as a "thank you" for downloading the DLC. Now have 2 120's....oh well, live and learn I guess

Not to sound stupid or anything, but what is the difference between a normal copy of Gran Turismo 5 and a GT5 XL copy?

That has nothing to do with GT6 release dates. GT6 will be released whenever PD says it will be. (You'd think.) However, as of now, GT6 hasn't even been announced yet, so no one can say.

It has all the updates to Spec 2; and includes a voucher for download content (DLC). I have not noticed any other differences.

Hence my :D smiley at the end. Just seems funny they would have the expire date so far out.

Could you check if the save files are compatible with the original GT5 copy? A lot of people have been asking that and looks like you can confirm it.

I was one of the ones asking! As far as I can tell, all my "stuff" that I had before I loaded the XL disc is still there, including credits, A and B spec levels, number of cars, etc. Seems like it was pretty seamless to me. I have not tried to re-install an old save file made before I loaded up XL, is that want you want to know, if old pre-XL files will work now that I have XL?

What is the Game Data size, I wonder if they changed the file system, does it load any faster?

Why isn't there a GT5 XL version in Europe? There are more people with bad connection here then in the United States of Everything and Japan.

I had to get the XL last night and they cleaned it up some.

When viewing your own garage, the background is much brighter (sort of gets me sick looking at it, but a black car {detailed lines}is now visible), the menu bars / sort functions has been detailed out a bit more....just has a different feel to it.

My validity date of the voucher is also till end of 2014.

Simple , because we are the United States of Everything, as you say.

I got GT5 XL after owning the original and yes the save files are compatible. Also love the 2 sided cover for the game case with the X1. Funny I took around a 3 month break from GT5 and I already had all the updates DL'd to my PS3. I've been putting off using the voucher.....I guess I'll do it tonight.

Um. Kaz mentioned it even before GT5 came out, and I'm pretty sure they've confirmed it's in development.

But it still has not been announced.

Anyway I'd be very highly surprised if we see another GT full game on the PS3. I expect GT6 will arrive 2 years into the life of whatever the PS4 is called with the patch to fix its online mode arriving a month later.
