I am a PAL player. I am still on v1.0 because I've never had the opportunity to have my PS3 online. Never ever.
If I buy this, GT5 XL US Edition, will it work on my PAL PS3?

I really, really want it buy don't want to waste £40 on a disc that won't work on my console.

Not on the NET???

I think that the XL edition is for America, Canada and Japan ONLY!

Have you thought about taking your PS3 to a friend / family members house and updating it there?

Don't forget to buy the DLC while you're there if you do this.👍

Not everybody has that magic ability to get their consoles hooked up. Plus my Playstation is 800 miles away the other side of the English Channel.

v1.0 is just a gamma demo compared to what the game is like now. The file size is well over a GB to update via the net. I tried it unsuccessfully at a friend's house about a year ago.

I don't mind buying the updated game and starting again; it's a new challenge to look to.

I'm pretty sure it's region free...

Thanks for the input, I just wasn't sure.

:ouch:I wasn't slating you about not having the NET, Just strange thats all. Its not magic either

I would look into the XL edition being region free as i'm not entirely sure it is.

How about my other idea regarding a frined / family members internet connection to update your GT? No good?

EDIT: I see that it is region free but, are the codes for the DLC region locked? This I am not sure of.

The DLC is less important to me, in all honesty. A v2.0 of the game will be more than enough.

It's USA version so it isn't PAL...It will not work with your PAL PS3 and save data...

I've read that PS3 discs aren't region coded, so that should be irrelevant.

But, I'm not too bothered about save data. If I have to start again, I'll actually look forward to it. I haven't been able to play GT since last July and that was v1.0, so if I can get v2.0, I might as well start again.

I have to raise the point again - can't you just take your PS3 round a mate's house and update to 2.0 there?

The game will work perfectly. The thing is you won't be able to use your old game save, you'll have to start over.

PS3 games aren't region coded, but unfortunately GT5's game saves are. Also, if you got any of the special DLC cars such as stealths via codes they most likely won't appear on your XL NTSC copy.

Tried unsuccessfully in the past. And I don't think they would take too kindly to me using up over a gig of their internet.

If I get my grubby paws on a copy of the game that is v2.0, I'd actually want to start again and play the game how it should have been from the start.

Order placed.

You'll probably have to make a US PSN account to download the DLC too. But playing it on your main account should work fine.

The DLC is free so if I don't or am unable to claim it, I'm not really losing anything. Just having the main game and all those wonderful updates will be more than enough!

Ta for the input, gang!

Yeah, Just saying that I don't think the DLC unlock codes will work on non US account. So ya might want to set up a US one if it gives you any trouble.
