Hello, Guys!

Something odd happened to me today. I have been doing some testing to choose the best all-around GT500 car to enter some online races, and decided to compare the Yellowhat Tomica GT-R '08 and the Woodone Advan Clarion GT-R.

Looking at the ingame specs, both cars seem to be the same. I upgraded them exactly equal and used the same tune for both. The track I chose for the test was Fuji Speedway.

Here what happened:

- Yellowhat: 1.36,8sec, with 495hp. The car was planted in every corner, no oversteer. Did the time without pushing too hard.

- Woodone: 1.38,9sec, with 505hp. Very twitchy, snap oversteer on tight corners. Had to push really hard, and still lost 2 sec to the Yellowhat...

Does anyone know why this happens? How can 2 cars that are basically the same behave so differently?

Any advice will be most welcome.

I do believe that either the teams get some sort of freedom tuning their entrants, or there is some sort of penalty added to winning cars, whether it be loss of hp or gaining weight to make things interesting.

If the second is true, some of the faster gt500 in this game might actually be losers!

...No but seriously i think theres something going on about these cars that we dont see.

Very simply, the Woodone ran Bridgestones (I think) as oppose to the other R35s, which seemed to have less grip, causing the oversteer you're experiencing.

Woodone GTR is the slowest GTR by far. From my testing its almost 1sec per lap slower than Motul, Xanavi, Calsonic and Yellowhat.
Woodone drives similarly to NSX with a nervous back end.
If you want a fast Super GT500 car you should use Calsonic or Yellowhat. What you shoudnt use is Woodone GTR, Eneos, Banzai Lexus. These cars seem to be a lot slower then others.

I agree with you, from my testing. But if the difference between the cars is caused by tyre brands, maybe the game should inform you of that in one of the settings screens. It's sometimes frustrating to test a car without having any idea of what to expect.

Based on my experience, this is how I rate the Gt500's that I've tested:

- Yellowhat GT-R: Great handling. Fantastic at twisty circuits, excellent acceleration. I love it around Laguna Seca and Suzuka.

- Xanavi Nismo GT-R '08: Very good at high speed circuits, with long straighs. Best top speed I've achieved and capable of a 1:38 lap at monza. Loses to the Yellowhat in tighter tracks.

- Woodone GT-R: Rubbish. Too much oversteer. Bad at braking. Poor acceleration.

- Lexus Denso Dunlop Sard SC430: Very good handling. Have won several online races with it, in bumpy tracks. Maybe the dunlop tyres give it some extra grip, but it is fantastic around trial mountain. Loses to the yellowhat in smoother surfaces, though.

- All Hondas: Hate them. Too twitchy. Maybe they are capable of being fast if you turn all aids on or use a wheel, but since I use the DS3 and no aids, I find them pretty much undriveable.

It's written in big bold letters right on the sidewall... What more do you want?
