More good news for American car fans, more power for the upcomming Shelby GT500...

So we have the GT500 now with an offical 500HP, the Blue Devil is now a confirmed car slotted for production... It makes you wonder, what good news is going to come from Chrysler?

I've heard rumors of a 600 hp hemi v-10...

...Could you imagine a MX5 with the GT500 V8 under the hood? Now THATS a fight for the LS7 Solstice from Hot Rod magazine!

GT 500 powered MX5 is basically: iron block + dohc heads + supercharger = nose heavy = no traction.

LS7 Solstice is :Aluminum block + compact ohv desigin = better weight distribution = the win.

Unless of course, ford is underating its engine again...

Correction: LS7 Miata for the surprise Victory!

Chevy small blocks love Miata's, and Miata's love Chevy small blocks, Ford hasn't had a good engine to swap into a Miata since the OHV days ended over there.

The SRT-10 Coupe is allready on sale, and it recieved a whooping from the Chevrolet Z06. The GT500 will be a fast car, but not on a level with the Corvette and Viper. Maybe a Z51 Vette, but I would expect this Mustang to be running with Cadillac CTS-Vs, BMW M3s, and Audi RS4s.

I love this picture.

That explains why you see pushrod engines in Miata's, and why people still like them.

They are itsy bitsy tiny little lumps.

...Thus partially explaining why pushrod engines are still used by GM. They are cheaper to build, cheaper to operate, lighter, and smaller, and often times make more power than OHC engines with similar (usually better) fuel efficency.
