okay just a few questions.

The most common one probably is...is it any good?..

How is it different then the other GT games?...

How much does car details such as horse power and all come into play?..as I know very very little. More like I know absolutely nothing. I dont even know what horse power is or do.

I just gotten interested in GT. I do like some racing games but not all. Think this will make me like it?

Pretty much it for now.
Also I do need a small guide or so..kinda like a Car 101 guide or something. As i know very little.

The game is great. Just wait for the US/EU release since it will have a lot more cars and it will be in english. From what I hear is that GT5P JPN won't have a language patch, so everyone with that release will be stuck with the bushes... Anyways, the game is a lot better than all other GT games. It has better graphics, sound, driving physics, AI, in other words everything!

Gran Turismo is not an easy game to get used to after you been playing NFS. Here you have to a lot more careful and patient!

Good Luck!

or buy a gt4 game, wich should be very cheap by now,and you can get familiar with the "sim" factor of the series!!...gt is not a "average arcade "racing game but ......well..just try it!(and welcome to the real racing exp.!)let us know how you experieced it..:)

Its good if your a big fan of the series, if your not totally into it you maybe let down with the lack of content (even though its basically a pay for demo). I would recommend it because you wont see cars looking that good in any other game on any system until the full release. If your not a super fan wait for the FULL GT5.

Its another Prologue which means demo of the full version which is too follow so its not a full release. Its it basically like GT4 Prologue but this time the game will update over time as PD add updates.

Horse power you could just say is how fast it will go, the higher the better your chances of winning but obviously its not that simple, you have to have good torque to get the power to the road.

In Prologue the horse power doesn't really come too much into play because you can't modify anything. Basically you could play this game without any car knowledge if thats what your asking.

If you have tried other GT's you will know its more of a simulator so very different from things like NFS... it does take some driving skill to do and more to master but its quite easy to pick up. If you like racing games GT is a must have for your collection.

Whether to start with Prologue or wait till the full GT5 its well worth it. Download the free GT5Prologue (yes there is a demo of a demo!) from the JPN PSN store (if its still there) if you want to give the game a go!

Hope that helps MiyaviSan :)

Robin.

Sorry, the demo is now gone. I actually bought the PS3 a week or so before they removed( makes no sense to remove anything from the PS store unless it is extremely old) it. You also had to set up a Japanese account and make use of some very helpful threads on this forum to decipher what you needed to do since everything is in Japanese. The demo should be worth $40, plus I have heard your progress from the demo should transfer to the full game. You can also trade the GT5P in when you pick up your GT5 full for a bit of credit.

@Robin

well there seems to be a good amount of content to buy GT5P. So I think it'll do

Sweet, I was actually bummed a bit since I thought you kinda need to know a few things to actually get the best out of everything. But that saved me alot basically.

I do like Ridge Racers, NFS is okay for me. Planning to pick up GT as a good Racer for me aside from Ridge Racers.

And the demo is gone unfortunatly : (

Even so, thanks for the info. That really helped alot. Definitely going to get prologue : )

@Chad:

Does that work worldwide?

heh alright, I'll try it out on april : D

At least try GTHD Concept v1.2 via PSstore US. Try before you buy. GT targets auto enthusiasts primarily, the learning curve is steep. Do well and the gratification factor and replay value far exceed arcade 'crash & burn'.

I did try GTHD, I wanted more out of it really.

Yes it does work worldwide, all PS3 games are region free 👍

Not sure, but I think he may meant being able to trade it in, or the game transferring to the full GT5. Trade ins are store specific, they either do it or don't. The game transferring is something I heard as a possibility, so not sure 100% about it in anyway. Makes sense since GT4 accepted your save from GT3.

I dont think a game transfer will work with copies from different regions no...

NTSCJ GT4P certainly didnt with GT4 PAL..

I've got a question: in the Japanese release of Prologue, is there one universal control to completely shut off driving aids in all cars? That was always one of my biggest gripes about GT4. Every time I bought a car, even if I wanted to race it completely un-modded, I had to go into settings and turn of the driving aids.

in GT5P before you start every race/time trial a option screen pops up for you to choose assists, tyres, physics etc. It will always stay to what you last set it, so you don't have to turn off assist each car or race.

It changes if you race online iin normal mode and have it set to pro physics in the offline . And vice versa.

It stays with what you raced with last . Been caught out a couple of times like that , thought i had suddenly got real good until i realized the steering had been changed to Normal/Amatuer. :ouch:

Yeah because that was the last settings.

I realise that. Was just pointing out that the online race side of things automatically changes your tyre and steering settings.

In "Gran Turismo Mode" (aka Career/Simulation Mode of the game) you have to manualy turn-off all assists from the very first game. I guess the reason for that is the whole "ownership issues" philosophy of the series - by forcing you to do that for every car, player distingushes himself from being "normal/casual" driver.

After all those years, I'd be very unhappy if such an option would be overruled by making it more accessible. Somehow, there is something mazohistic about the anger you feel to yourself after you start the race and realising you've forgot to turn-off the assists.

I vote for keeping the traditional values intact :D

You are saying that you like having to turn off assists for every car individually, and that GT5P still makes you do this, right?

I got a bit sick of it in GT4, but it loaded a lot. Just like when buying upgrades, a bunch of loading. It wouldn't bother too much if we still have to do this, as long as there is not a bunch of loading.

As much as I'd like to agree with this, it just feels wrong having to manually switch off the driving aids individually for all classic cars that should never have had them fitted in the first place.

For newer cars that would have factory fitted ABS/TCS/ASM, then yes, I agree.
For older cars that would not have factory ABS/TCS/ASM, you should be forced to purchase these as upgrades (if you wanted them) rather than being forced to switch them off!

400% agree at this one, it's the only thing I find okward in otherwise pin-point-accuracy of GT games so far.
