This is the only Standard Physics challenge that I am aware of.

It will consist of 4 parts. Anybody may enter any of the parts. Participation in all is not required.

All parts will be run in Free Run mode in the Intermediate online races. PP limits are the same as the online race. Competition will include all 3 types of 2-wheel drive cars. 1 FF, 1 FR, and 1 MR.

You must save your Ghost Replay and quicktune for all times submitted. Top 3 times in each category must submit replays and tunes.

Part 1: Suzuka 650PP limit - Honda NSX Type R 02

Part 2: High Speed Ring 750PP limit - Amuse S2000 GT1

Part 3: London Stock English Cars 550PP limit - Mini Cooper-S 06

Part 4: Best combined time for all 3.

Times must be submitted in this format:

Your ID
Track
Time
Pad or Wheel

All settings are up to the driver.
Laps must be clean - no wall hits and 2 tires on track.
Competition will continue until the next online race update.

Please limit this thread to posting of times and discussion of the event. PLEASE NO PRO VS STD. There has been plenty of that already.

I was unaware you could save a ghost replay when racing online

It's free run mode, so it should be cool. Probably the same procedure as the hotlap competitions we've run on this board for the Evora, 600PP etc..

👍

All the best

Well I'll be first to put up some times.

Your ID: s2k2k3
Track: Suzuka
Time: 2'05.257
Pad or Wheel: DFGT

Track: HSR
Time: 1'04.419

I don't have a time worth posting yet for London. I suck at London...

Well I put up a time at London this evening. I had to use auto trans because I kept hitting the rev limiter. That Mini doesn't rev much past redline so the auto trans actually works very well.

Track: London
Time: 56.381

I have just discovered something disappointing. It is possible to tune your car above the PP limit and run in Free Run mode and even save your ghost.

I have not figured a way to tell if the ghost is "illegal" or not. So I'm going to ask that players save their quicktunes for every run they submit. Write it down since there is no way to transfer the data in a file. Top 3 in each category will have to submit tunes as well as ghosts.

I may give this a go tonight and report back my times - I'm no London expert either so I'll need some time to come up to speed on that one. Great event by the way, surprised there is not more interest but there are SO many things going on right now in the Race Event area.

As you can see there have been a few times posted by the guys at the playstation forum. It will be good to have some times put up by the GT Planet members (other than me of course).

By the way, I love the 280Z. I came so close to buying a yellow one but I couldn't get the seller to respond to my questions, and then I found the S2000 and bought that instead.

Oh man, I think I might need to go find the pre-amatuer thread - my best track/car combo would be the HSR/S2K at this point and I'm turning 1'05.9xx laps which is way off the pace - I don't even think I can get a clean lap at Suz with the NSX. :)

It might be a little while before I get back to you on this one.

Well here are some things that might help you shave a few tenths off your laps at HSR... The Amuse likes max power at the HSR. You have to turn up the weight but you need the power. And min aero. Aero hurts your speed. Run R1s, and dial up the rear spring rate a bit to help keep it free. You should carry 175+mph through turn 1 with no lifting. Brake and turn in to turn 2 early, so that you just touch the curb in the inside. You should be able to floor it from the apex out if you get the entry right. Smooth is the key to the S's. When you get the turn-in just right the rear will just rotate through these corners on it's own with little steering input. You'll have to feather the throttle just a bit in the S's to keep it from pushing. Turn off TCS. It messes up your throttle control. In the last corner coming onto the straight you have to enter as wide as possible and come right down to the bottom. A bit slower in, but faster out. Give yourself the straightest possible exit. I cut 3 tenths off my lap time just getting that last turn right.

But don't tell anybody. I don't want to give away my secrets. :sly:

So come on and put up a time. It's all for fun. :D
