Hi guys,

Whilst i was in London i managed to get to both Zavvi and HMV on Oxford Street to take a gander at the UK Championships.

It's being run over a 2 lap race in arcade mode using:

Mini Cooper S
level 5 TCS
ASM
S2 tyres

No power modifications or setup tweaks were allowed.

I clocked a 2:23.741 on my fastest (unenterable run) after spending 3hours waiting to play for about 12minutes in total! (totally worth it)

Other around the country were doing much better. With the top 3 being:

2:14:351
2:14:512
2:17.024

However, whilst being there, 2 people who had been visiting every day think they have heard that these times were acheived by turning off the TCS/ASM and fitting Race spec tyres.

It's because of this that i'm posting. Would anyone with the JP versions of GT5P or with the pre-release PAL version be able to run with this exact setup and tell us whether these times are possible or if foul play has been committed??

I know my time wasn't that quick, but it was a brilliant little taster of how GT5P will be next week. My whistle is well and truly whetted!

One last thing.. A BIIG thank you to Nick Toye, one of the people working on the GT5P event at HMV Oxford Street. He took a lot of time to talk to me and let me get my fill on the game whenever there was a chance to. He's also a web/graphic designer so check out his site at http://www.nicktoye.co.uk/

Well it'll have to be someone with a PAL copy because the mini cooper's not in the JP version.

Personally i never bother with things like this because there always subject to manipulation, i also heard you could only use automatic trans but some were seen to be using manual.

What steering wheel was being used, the new DFGT?

the 2:14 wasn't done on S2 tyres. How do I know this? because I went to the manchester event and raced against the leader, at HMV he set his time on R3's yet when I raced him at Zavvi when they enforced the rules he got a 2:25 hardly fast. I beat him with a 2:23 and took second place on the leaderboard for zavvi manchester.

I now wish I got the japanese prologue so I knew my way round the london track :ouch: and I also wish I was good with a controller. I expected to be using a wheel but no such luck. :dunce:

On a posotive note it appears that the different stores are using different setups so don't worry about the stores that you are running in. If you make it to first and get invited down to london then it you will be on a level playing field for the races.

Hi legroom we spoke at zavvi and hmv this game is very good and already i think it will blow the rest of the racers away with online play coming next week.

That time you got is fast considering you only played for 12 minutes for the first time.

I got a time of 2'21.319 at hmv in london with the settings that legroom has mentioned, i'm eager to get below the 2'20 mark and it deffinetly can be done with those settings, there are 2 other guys aswell as me at the london region's that think it is impossible to get 2'14 with these settings, I had a practice run in which the times was not recorded with ASM off TCS to 0 R3 tyres and got 2'18 on my second attempt.

If anyone has the japanese version could you see how fast you can get with another FF car with those settings legroom mentioned.

MaDHaX - It takes a few extra keystrokes to type "anese", and avoids you getting censured for typing a racial slur.

Just FYI. And I've edited accordingly.

Yes, please, let's not piss off the very culture that brought us GranTurismo!

Sorry guys did'nt mean to offend anyone I will use correct spelling in future.

Is there any info in regard to what stores are actually running this event?

MaDHaX - No worries

Is there any info in regard to what stores are actually running this event?

It's on the official site, but I can't for the life of me find out right now. It's some (11, I think) Zavvi and HMV stores in the UK...

Edit: Linkeh - two near you.

Thanks. London is a bit too far for me. :(

i was thinkin the same today im the regional leader for zavvi manchester with 2.16.679 and 2.14 i can only get with racing 3 tyres and asm turned off. the change the settings all the time. so far the nearest to my time was 2.18 so it can be done but no way can you do 2.14.351 on s2 tyres. im 2nd place in hmv manchester with 2.15.998. im not tryna show off guys u just gotta get 2 absolutely perfect laps i mean perfect thing what helps tho is the other cars i think i got my 2.16 by slipstreaming but everytime u restart the race the cars chnge which doesnt help anyone

Hey guys,

I'm currently number 1 (though there's talk of someone getting 2.12.4 in Birmingham) with a 2.13 and can confirm it was done with R3 and TC off. Over the weekend there was a lot of talk at Gamestation and HMV in Edinburgh of the settings and the such. It seems a lot of stores have been using the R3 tyres, when I first went into HMV these settings were already on and I assumed the standard, it was not foul play on my part.

Since then I have had the "proper" settings on and recorded a 2.18, I don't know which way they are going to take it, but there seems no fair solution other than to invite ALL regional winners instead of the top 3 to London.

If they void all times until now (as they couldn't prove which were done with R3s and which were not) then I (and numerous others around the country) will be at the shop tomorrow with 4 laps practice on these current settings against people who've been there every day last week running the settings.

A 2.11 is possible with the R3 tyres, I think 2.16/17 is the fastest with the settings above.

TC is the biggest annoyance for me, it means changing my entire driving style to stop the game stepping off the throttle when I'm coming out of the corner.

All of this said; for me the trip to London was just going to be a bit of a laugh and I planned on using it as an excuse to take my girlfriend and take her sightseeing. Some people are taking the whole thing a bit too seriously, in my opinion, especially considering every region is offering you a PS3 and a copy of the game.

its the same for me.... i won the zavvi manchester one with the real settings i got 2.16.679... im not bothered about the london thing either im just happy with the ps3 and knowin that i did it on the correct settings.. congrats to everyone includin maself that were regional winners and won the ps3 and game.... now for the draw on the 31st haha see if i win that aswell lol.. well done guys

Gloating Dazz lives up to his tag LOL well done guys and thanks for posting up and clearing things up....the saying "couldn't organize a .... up in a brewery" springs to mind LOL
