GT5P won't load anymore!!!!!

Hey folks. First post on the board after lurking for a while. Great folks and information here.

I tried the search function for this problem, but didn't come up with anything.

Our PS3 won't recognize the GT5P disc anymore. It looks like it's just this one game. Other games work fine, BD work fine and all the saved info etc is still on the pS3. The disk looks ok ( no scratches or anything ).

Anyone else seen this before. Is there a setting that I'm issing somewhere? I'm new to the whole gaming scene, so sorry if the question seems lame.

I finally get to the "S" class, and after a few days it stopped working. AHHHH!!!!:ouch:

Hoping I don't have to replace the disk.

Thansk for any help.

Right. I put the disc in and the PS3 doesn't recognize it. The GT5P icon doesn't come up on the XMB either. All other games are fine. In fact the kids are playing Motor Storm right now with no problems.

If it makes any difference, the PS3 software version is 2.42

Well, I've had this problem before and it turned out that the disk drive was broken. So sadly your disk drive is broken as well if this happens. Sorry to say that. I had to get a new PS3 from Sony.

Just trying to understand this. Why does this only happen on the one game? Everything else ( other games and Blu Ray discs )seems to work fine.

Please explain how...

... if the drive is broken?

Maybe the disc is scratched. Can you try another GT5P disc?

This happens only with disk drive errors, and seeing as other games work fine, it will be a crack in your disk. Look really carefully at the inside of the disk, when this happened to me it was a really small crack about 1cm long from the inside of the disk. I realise you said there was no scratches, but these things are not always obvious.
The only thing you can do is attempt to get your money back from whichever shop sold it to you and buy a new disk.

My friend.....If I'm ever in Mancheter I will search you out and buy you a good Canadian Beer! Youre right. I looked at the disk and there is a small crack coming from the center hole. Of course my son is saying " It wasn't me! " Hmm, worked fine last night.

Thanks again Ardius.
Looks like I'm off to get a new disk. Now, will using a new disk mean I have to start the game over again. Wouldn't think so, right?

No, your save game will still work.
And no problem. 👍

Now that this has happened to someone else other than me, I'm theorising now that a batch of GT5:P disks may have quality issues, seeing as this hasn't happened again with my newer disk and hasn't happened with any other game, even with my little brother regularly mis-handling them.

yea some scratches or cracks really can be so hard to see until you look closer! It's a mystery how they happen sometimes as well.

I had the exact same thing with my GTA-disk....turned out someone(the missus.....:ouch:)put it back in the cover pressing on the outside of the disk to get it stuck in the klicking thing in the center(sorry, have no idea how you call that...)rather than pressing on the inside ring...the disk bended so far that a 0,5 cm crack apeared and my ps3 wont even think about realising there is a game inside!!...

i noticed this seeing her put another disk in a cover and i screemed STTOOOOPPPP...
it never happened again...:sly:

spyrrari.
