X what?
Evening everybody!

Was thinking today whilst driving on my way into work, what improvements or new features do you suppose Kaz has implemented into GT5's GT Auto shop? Obviously, the traditional car wash, oil change and wheel shop... do you suppose the livery editor would enter in this section if its included.

Its all pure speculation of course, but should give us something to chew on until TGS!

I hope we get to choose rim sizes this time though, the 99 Celica SSII really needed a set of 18" instead of the pathetic 14-15" rims it had... perhaps when buying the car we could choose the rims too? The new Subaru Impreza STI in GT5P for example shows 'BBS wheel option"...

Hopefully oil change will again change bhp and feel of the car, in GT4 i used to find that the engine was less responsive when it had dirty oil, might just have been me though. It'll be good if we actually see dirt on the cars now too, its not hard to emulate and :yuck:F2:yuck: has had it...

Anyways... thoughts?

The selecting of factory wheel options (like the 'BBS wheel option' or any factory option) would be done in the dealership, I do hope though when we choose aftermarket wheels we can choose our size (diameter, width and offset).

Repair service after crashes.
Aftermarket wheels.
Aerodynamic kits.
Livery editor
etc.

It would be cool if you could turn around the cam and open the doors, hood and trunk before and after the virtual mechanics worked on the car, so you can see everything in detail.

Yes that would be great, but that would be better when adding parts to the car, like an aftermarket exhaust, you actually see the old one being removed and the new one added. Same when altering the suspension settings, off comes the wheels etc...

Or just in the showroom or garage, at least the ability to control the car instead of waiting for it to come around again to see the angle ahaha. A nice little door pop and zoom in would be nice, maybe the option to enter "interior view".

But definetly rim sizes, according to the cars, cant have a fiat 500 on 20's now.

Yeah it would be great if when setting up the suspension you had a visual representation of the wheel moving as you make various adjustments.

I think that would make suspension tuning far easier for those who dont fully understand the concepts of toe, caster, camber etc.

Great ideas...

choosing wheel size width and offset is a must,
i love the idea of being able to control a car so that you can see it properly with open doors and hood.

I would love to see the car customization that has been introduced in Test Drive Unlimited. Ex. : if you buy a Mercedes, you can choose from Mercedes rims, interior colours. And the aerodynamic stuf + custom liveries would be great!

car customization is ok but there's no need to go as far as dirt 2 with hula girls and bobble heads on the dash board.

I want to be able to put some 30's on my Dodge Ram. :sly:

I want fuzzy dice

Ok guys, seriously now before the mods lock this... feel free to post up rims and oil brands and whatever, but leave your nuts at home! :)

I would like to see the normal stuff, oil change, car wash, paint shop.

Dont care for body mods. If you want to mod bodies go play NFS or Pimp my Ride.

Awesome! It'd be even better if we had a fully modelled version of each factory that manufacturers these components so that we can see them being made "in game", and even being delivered to the virtual garage by a virtual courier company. Heck, that could even be part of the game - delivering the parts. What do you think?!

Bit much... unless you could race a DHL van vs. a Fedex van... :sly:

Engine re-builds
Body kits
Livery editor
Interior accessories, i.e. racing seats

In lieu of Race Modifications, last seen in GT2, purchasing body modifications that
are related to racing performance & safety would be great replacement.

Custom livery's would like to have, but premade templates based on real car sponsorship that could be
applied quickly for me would be a better choice.

Ability Not just the to select tire compound, but width, height & wheel size, but would have to be within
the limits of a real racing specifications.

If brake wear where to be implemented then purchasing Brake Pads. This would to me have
more bigger affect in a longer race than dirty oil.

Something like Altenburgs's Lexus in Speed World Challenge :)

I just want the regular stuff to be kept in GT5. Wheel change, oil change and car wash will satisfy me. :)

I dont think I want to have to bother constantly buying parts for my car because the older ones failed. One advantage of virtual cars is that you dont have to worry about stuff like that.

I am all for more aesthetic mods. If forza can do it then gt can do it 10x better.

One thing I really want to see is the ability to change a cars colour after purchase and the ability to use non factory colours.

I hope they bring the used car section back, but with rust stains, mechanical problems, and greasy haired salesmen...

Seriously, I hope the format of starting with "humble beginnings" is not forgotten.

Engine Refreshing~ the block is honed, gaskets and bearings are replaced along with new piston rings, cylinder heads are rebuilt (This would greatly improve engine performance and result in more horsepower and torque)

Engine Service~ Oil is drained and replaced along with the addition of a new oil filter, The Air Cleaner is replaced or cleaned and spark plugs are changed, The Ignition and Fuel Systems are re-tuned for maximum performance (This would result in a gain in horsepower and torque)

Brake Service~ New Pads or Shoes, Brake Fluid is flushed and changed, Discs are resurfaced or replaced (This would result in overall better braking and increase the responsiveness of the brakes)

Drivetrain Refreshing~ The Transmission and Differential are fully rebuilt (This would result in smoother shifts and a increase in acceleration and traction)

Suspension Service~ Shocks or struts are replaced, Wheels and Tires are Rotated and Balanced (This would improve the car's in game handling)

Suspension Refreshing~ Stock Suspension Bushings are replaced with High Performance Polyurethane Bushings, Worn out components are replaced (This would greatly improve the car's in game handling)

Wheel Shop~ Hundreds of Name-Brand and Used Wheels to choose from. Many different sizes would be available.

Exhaust Shop~ Choose from different high performance exhaust components like headers, mufflers, side pipes, high-flow catalytic converters, and even complete systems (Different Components would affect the cars in-game sound and have a small increase in horsepower and torque)

Car Wash~ Same as in previous GT's

Personally i would love to have the option of turning the "stock" vehicles into racecars, just like Gt2. All of us have seen the Gt Concept cars in Gt5:Pro but imagine being able to turn any normal vehicle into a wide-body performance beast like the conecpet counterparts. Now that would be cool.

Pretty much that, I want the same tuning system and performance parts thing we had and maybe just add a bit more depth and option but the best thing would be your DIY racing modification where you could select what part you want and so on.

The concept by GT modification they have is pretty damn cool so hopefully this is user-achievable too for stock vehicles.

Yes to this:

I miss the racing modification of GT2, comes to my head the "Puma" Mitsu 3000GT, i love it!!!
